Carl James Harris, Jr

Dec 30, 1954 – Sep 20, 2018

Carl James Harris, Jr. passed away at home on Thursday, September 20, 2018. He was born December 30, 1954 in Racine, Wisconsin, the son of the late Carl James and Ruth Joann (nee: Hinton) Harris. Carl attended William Horlick High School, and was a graduate of Pro-Drive Truck Driving School. He was married to Theresa Ann Harris on May 2, 1987.

Carl was a dedicated employee of AMC/Chrysler, retiring after 30 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, working in his yard, fixing and maintaining his home, and riding his Harley-Davidson. He also liked to relax by the TV watching westerns, super-hero movies, and science fiction movies. He was a loving husband and father, a hard worker, and a dedicated family man.

Left to treasure his memory are his beloved wife, Theresa A. Harris of Eastpointe, Michigan; his children Aalon James (Gina) Harris of McDonough, Georgia, Alicia Terese Harris of Eastpointe, and Anthony Eric (Rebecca) Harris of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren Aalon J. Harris Jr. of Warren Michigan, Tiearra M. Harris of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Anthony Eric “Junie” Harris, Jr. of Eastpointe, and Jacob Carlos Harris of McDonough; sisters Emily Harris of Racine, Wisconsin, Constance (Sonny) Robinson and Shirley (Brian) Sloan both of Marion, Illinois; brothers Clint Harris, Gregory (Alicia) Harris, and Calvin Harris all of Racine. He leaves behind to cherish his memory a host of nieces and nephews; special friend Andrew Parks of Detroit, Michigan; and 1st cousin Michael Jackson of Racine. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Carlos A. Harris; siblings Monica E. Petty, Deanna R. Harris, Lillian A. Harris, and Vincent E. Harris; cousin Joseph “Joe” Jackson; and best friend Joe Lee Rocket.

In keeping with Carl’s wishes, private services were held in the funeral home on Thursday, September 27, 2018, and he was laid to rest in Graceland Cemetery.
