Miller's Flowers

RACINE – Chad W. Kohel, 46, passed away unexpectedly at Ascension All Saints on Friday, March 3, 2017.

He was born in Racine on September 26, 1970.  He graduated from Horlick High School in 1988.

Chad was a baker by trade. He baked for Bendsten’s Bakery and Pic ‘n Save until health issues forced him to stop working.  Chad umpired for the city of Racine for many years.  He was so passionate about that job and was known as one of the best umpires ever.  He also excelled in darts and was a top league player.     He was known amongst his friends by always having a nickname for everyone and for being an avid Cowboys and Orioles fan.

Chad is survived by his sons, Austin Hill and Kaden Kohel; his mother, Connie (Bill) Domanico-Lyons; his father, Dan Kohel; his brother, Ryan Kohel; his grandmother, Donna (Lowell) Katt; his cousin, Chris Smith and his loving, special friend, Mona Hoffmann all of Racine.    He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph and Mae Kohel, Bendt Bendtsen and his uncle, Allen Kohel.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Monday, March 13, 2017 for a visitation and time to meet with his family from 5-7 p.m.  Please wear your favorite jersey in Honor of Chad.  A formal service will not take place.

Way to early. I only knew Chad through softball over the years. He called a good game. Without reffs the game would not last past the first close call….The last time I saw him was at Lincoln Park when I tore my hamstring running to first base. I was out by a 5 steps and now Chad is safe at home.

  37. Molly Meagher says

I’m so sorry for your loss Ryan and Dan. He’s been a part of our lives since we were youbg kids. To say Chad and Ryan weren’t apart of our family would be a lie! I will cherish our fun times in the neighborhood and through Douglas Park to the recent laughs and reminiscing at Ice Box after golf league. You will be missed dearly Chad!
