Racine- Charles Leo Feest, 82, passed away unexpectedly at All Saints-St. Mary’s Medical Center on Friday, May 12, 2006. A lifetime resident, Charles was born in Racine on February 1, 1924 to the late Oswald and Mary (nee: Henkes) Feest. He graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1941. Following graduation, Charles began working for Massey-Ferguson. Shortly after, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army during WWII, stationed most of the time as a Gunnery 1st Sergeant in Hawaii. After his discharge, Charles returned to Massey-Ferguson, retiring in 1991 as Payroll Master after 49 years of service. He also served as an officer and consultant at Massey-Ferguson Credit Union for many years. On September 29, 1951 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Dorothy Elizabeth Hagemann. Charles was a devoted and longtime member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. He was fanatical about Hawaii, where he and Dorothy loved traveling to as often as they could. Charles also enjoyed researching the Feest family geneology via the internet; and was Racine City League Softball’s greatest fan. Above all, Charles placed his family number one in his life. May he Rest In Peace! Surviving are his loving wife, Dorothy; their children, Cindy (John) Peterson, Gary (Mary) Feest, Tim Feest, all of Racine; and Edward (Leslie) Feest of Milwaukee; special granddaughter, Ali Feest; brother, Raymond (Janet) Feest; brother-in-law, Eugene (Jean) Hagemann; sisters-in-law, Pat Hagemann and Gloria Feest-Trachte; and by many dear nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brothers, James (Ruth) Feest and Eugene Feest; sister, Phyllis (Jack) Nielsen; Dorothy’s parents, Casper and Stella Hagemann; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Orville Hagemann, Laurie (Ed) Jozwik, Ruth (James) Feest; and Casper Hagemann. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at 11:00 am in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-8 pm with a Prayer Service being offered at 7:45 pm; and at the church on Wednesday from 10-11 am. A heartfelt note of thanks to Dr. Howard W. Short for the many years of fine care given to Charles; and to Bob Weiss, RN of All Saints-St. Mary’s Infusion Therapy Dept. for the comfort and support that was so warmly extended to Charles and to our family on Friday. God bless both of you!

My deepest and sincerest sympathies on your loss. Charles was someone who I always enjoyed seeing and talking to. I remember when I worked for the title company and would run into him at the courthouse while he was searching the family tree. It always brightened my work day. Of course, he always livened up the softball games!
Take care, you all our in my prayers. God Bless.
