Charles N. Martin

Jan 10, 1938 – Dec 19, 2005

Mr. Charles N. Martin, 67, was called home by his Heavenly Father on Monday, December 19, 2005. He was born in Taylor, MS on January 10, 1938 to Comic and Mae Etta (nee: Fondren) Martin. On January 25, 1961 he married the former Betty Jean Ivy. She preceded him in death on June 22, 1990. He worked at JI Case for almost 20 years, retiring in 1979 due to health reasons. He belonged to St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where he was a devoted and faithful member until his health began to fail. Charles enjoyed spending time with his family, small game hunting, fishing and traveling. His survivors include his five sons, Ricky B. Martin, Calvin (Janice) Martin both of Racine, Willie (Kim) Martin of LaCrosse, Larry Martin of New York, Thomas Martin of Atlanta; mother, Mae Etta Martin of Racine; brothers and sisters, Q.V. (Collier) Tyson of Cleveland, OH, Lilly Mae Luster of Indianapolis, IN, Earlie Mae Briscoe, Earlene (Wesley) Egerson, Bernice (David) Wilson, Zannie Martin and Frank Martin all of Racine; grandchildren, Brittany and Natalie Martin of Milwaukee, Calvin Lacory Martin of Houston, TX, Khion, Adonnis, Justin, and Asti of Racine, Darius and Chloe of LaCrosse and a host nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his wife, Betty Jean, his father, Comic Martin; brother, Arnold “Mickey” Van Martin; grandparents, Perry (Vinnie) Martin and Wes (Idella) Fondren all preceded him in death. His Homegoing service will be held on Friday, December 23, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop Lawrence L. Kirby officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation in the church on Friday from 10-11 a.m.

Their attention to detail and commitment to excellence truly made a difference in our overall experience. They offered grief counseling services and connected us with local support groups, which proved to be invaluable during our grieving process.
