RACINE – Dana Jean Berens, 52, passed away unexpectedly from a massive heart attack on Friday, June 29, 2018.

A lifelong resident of Racine, she was born on April 20, 1966, the daughter of David and Jean (nee: Kothlow) Gorsiski.  Dana graduated from William Horlick High School in 1984.  She received a degree in accounting from Gateway Technical College and studied business and communications at Concordia University.  Dana was a professional licensed tax preparer and worked as the office manager for Jeanne’s Tax Service (a mother and daughter business) for 32 years.

On September 28, 2001, she married Robert Berens.

Dana loved being in the company of her family and friends.  She was always the life of the party and enjoyed shooting darts, pool and playing horseshoes.  She will be dearly missed by the many that knew and loved her.

In addition to her husband, Robert Berens, she is survived by her children, Ernie D. (Laura) Petrowsky, Jena Rose (partner, Nieves Perez) Petrowsky; her parents, David and Jean Gorsiski; her stepchildren, Justin Berens, Emily (Gage) Berens, Hailey Berens; her grandchildren, Devlin, Daisy, Khale, Eden and Braelynn; her brother, Michael (Gwendolyn) and family; her sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kris Berens, Mike (Jackie) Berens, John Berens and families; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins; including the Eschmann, Gorsiski, Goudie Kothlow, Mathieus and Willis families.

She was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Joyce Berens.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Sunday, July 8th for a visitation from 2:00-4:00 p.m.  A service remembering and Dana’s life will take place in the funeral home on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Mark R. Jones officiating.  There will be an additional a visitation on Monday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.  Her interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.    In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to the family which will establish trust funds for Dana’s grandchildren.

I am so sorry, Jean and Dave, Please know you are in my prayers. If I could be there, I would give you a hug and a shoulder to weep on. I placed your family on the prayer chain at my church and you are in the prayers of many of my friends. God has Dana held in His loving arms and has said to her, “Welcome home, Dana” I truly believe that. Please draw some strength from that thought. You will weep because you miss her. You will smile because she was a part of your life for all those many years and there are happy memories to call upon.
Much love and prayer Jo Etta

Testimonials

May 25, 2021

My family wants to thank you and your team for all that you did to walk along side us in my mom’s death and celebration of life. You all did an amazing job with such care, concern of details, and sensitivity to our family. I know my moms body was treated respectfully in your care and that meant the world to us to have confidence in that.
