STURTEVANT – Darrell W. Benning, Sr., 80, passed away at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie on Sunday, April 29, 2018.

He was born in Racine on June 27, 1937, the son of the late William and Rose (nee: Burmeister) Benning.  Darrell graduated from Washington Park High School in 1955.  On September 10, 1958 he married Patricia Lee Langdon.

Darrell worked for Kappus Bakery for over 13 years before giving 36 years of service to Racine Hydraulics/Bosch. He was an avid outdoorsman where he loved to fish and hunt.

In addition to his loving wife Pat, he is survived by his children, Debra Jaszkowski, Darrell (Lee) Benning, Jr., Robert Benning and Charles (Jane) Benning as well as his nine grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Darrell was also preceded in death by his infant daughter, Dawn Marie and his grandson, Kenny Benning.

Family and friends are invited to meet at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, May 4, 2018 for a visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A service remembering and celebrating his life will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Warren Williams officiating.  His interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park following the service at the funeral home.

   The Benning family extends a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Azura Memory Care North and South for the loving and professional care Darrell received as a resident with dementia the past 4 ½ years.
