David Andrew Marshall was the third child of Dennis and Berlinda Marshall, born on June 17, 1978, in Racine, Wisconsin. From an early age, David was a strong and daring young man who loved fishing, riding his bike, and playing with his brothers, Dennis Jr. and Derek. At the age of eight, David began to slow down physically and feel unwell. He was soon diagnosed with diabetes, marking the beginning of a lifelong journey of medical care and perseverance. Despite the challenges, David faced his condition with courage and determination.
The Marshall family were active members of Grace Temple Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Pastor Jettie L. Cornett. It was there that David discovered his love for music, participating in the Sunshine Band and youth choir. In 1991, the family joined United Church of God in Christ, led by Pastor Lewis L. Doss Jr. During this time, David became a member of the Wisconsin State Youth Choir, where his passion for music continued to grow. Through various church transitions, David remained a joyful presence in school and among his peers. He was known for his laughter, his light-hearted spirit, and his determination to live life as any “normal” child would. Despite countless medical appointments and treatments, David graduated from J.I. Case High School in 1996 and went on to earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Marketing from Gateway Technical College.
Though his health often presented overwhelming challenges, David held fast to his faith in God’s love and purpose. He endured multiple transplants and rigorous treatments, always pressing forward with hope and resilience. David’s passion for music continued to flourish, and he eventually began playing the organ at United Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Curtis L. Doss. His music became a source of joy not only for himself but for all who heard him play.
David was deeply loved by his many friends and family. He will be remembered for his unwavering strength, his steadfast faith, and the joy and laughter he brought into the lives of those around him. He leaves to cherish his loving parents, Dennis and Berlinda Marshall Sr.; his beloved son, Isaiah Foster; his brothers, Dennis A. Marshall Jr. (LaTonya Marshall) and Derek A. Marshall Sr. and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews, and cherished loved ones. David is preceded in death by his sister, Antoinette Marie Marshall.
