Donna (nee: Lehman) DeCaire

Oct 22, 1942 – Aug 14, 2016

Racine – Donna M. (nee: Lehman) DeCaire, age 73, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Sunday, August 14, 2016 following a brief, yet courageous, struggle with ovarian cancer.

Donna was born in Racine on October 22, 1942 to the late Peter and Viola (nee: Hoffman) Lehman. She graduated from Saint Catherine’s High School in 1960. On September 16, 1961 in St. Rita Catholic Church, she was united in marriage with Duane L. DeCaire, who preceded her in death on March 5, 2004.

Donna was a devoted member of St. Lucy Catholic Church where she was active with the daily mass prayer group. She enjoyed traveling and sending out her hand-crafted greeting cards. Donna was a tireless volunteer who was forever caring for others in need.

Surviving are her daughter, Amy (Bob) DeCaire-Edwards; grandchildren, Dana (Steve) Holling and Travis (Amy) Edwards; great-grandchildren, Jada and Trevor; brothers, Peter (Barb) Lehman and David (JoAnne) Lehman; sister, Ellen Spaulding; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her beloved parents and husband, Donna was preceded in death by her dear sons, Daniel, Duane “Dune” and Scott DeCaire.

All are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 6:00 pm in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, with Rev. Javier Guativa officiating.  Although there will not be a visitation , a time for gathering will follow the Mass.  Private interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery – Hwy 32. Memorials to St. Lucy Catholic Church for mass intentions have been suggested.

A special note of thanks to Dr. Scott Kamelle, Dr. Malik Bandealy and the staff of Aurora at Home Hospice for the compassionate care and support given in Donna’s time of need. May God bless all of you!

Do not be sad family & friends…I’ve gone to a far better place where I shall someday see you again. Rejoice – give thanks for the beautiful gift of life given to us by a generous God & Father!      Love, Donna

Our deepest sympathies in the loss of your wonderful mother. She was a dear friend of our mother who passed a few years ago as well as your brother Duane. We continue to support CF over the years because of them.

Testimonials

Our Memorial to “Mom”

Our family wants to thank Mike and the staff of Draeger-Langendorf for their compassion and caring in the death of our mother. They attended to every detail with such professionalism and made this difficult time so much easier by unburdening us of all that needs to be done with the arrangements. We all felt that there was nothing more they could have been done. It was perfect. We can now go forward with the memories that we hold in our hearts of mom and know that we provided the best possible service by choosing Draeger-Langendorf.
