Racine- Dorothea Jane (nee: Schliesmann) Mohr, 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at the Lincoln Village Convalescent Center following a valiant 4-year battle with breast cancer. A lifetime resident, Dorothea was born in Racine on January 30, 1930 to the late Joseph and Charlotte Amber (nee: McDonald) Schliesmann. A 1948 graduate of St. Catherine’s High School, she went on to be employed at Hamilton Beach, Moxness Products, Howard Industries and Twin Disc, from where she retired. On July 30, 1949 in the chapel of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dorothea was united in marriage with the love of her life, Ralph John Mohr. She was a longtime, faithful member of St. Lucy Catholic Church and former member of St. Mary Catholic Church. While at St. Lucy’s, she served in various volunteer capacities: parish council rep.; Fish Fry dinners, even working throughout her illness; organized and participated in Lucyniors activities; and worked tirelessly on annual festivals and rummage sales, just to name a few. It was her infectious smile and sweet personality that earned her profound respect among her St. Lucy family. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling; fishing; collecting angels and, years ago, was a loyal Cub Scout leader. Above all, Dorothea was a wonderful and caring wife, mother and grandmother who truly loved and cherished being in the surroundings of her entire family. Surviving are her loving husband and best-friend of nearly 58 years, Ralph; daughters, Lynn Marie (Donald) Damaschke and Jayne Ellen Mohr; son, Thomas John (Denise) Mohr, all of Racine; grandchildren, David Paul Damaschke; Gretchen Ariel (Mark Nurmi) Mohr and Nathaniel Tyler Mohr; Alexander Howard and Gary Thomas Mohr; brother, James (Geraldine Jordan) Schliesmann; brothers-in-law, Emmanuel (Millie), Alexander, Edward, Raymond (Joan), Lessly (Barbara), and Wesley(Jan) Mohr; sister-in-law, Leona (Donald) Zurawski; and by special nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends. In addition to her parents, Dorothea was preceded in death by her beloved son, Gary Lee Mohr; brothers, Eugene, William and George Schliesmann; sisters-in-law, Lorna, Ruth and Frieda Mohr; and brothers-in-law, Harvey (Shirley) Mohr and Adam (Gen) Mohr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 11:30 am with Rev. Mark R. Jones and Rev. Jeffrey M. Thielen officiating. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery Garden Crypts. Visitation will be in the church on Tuesday from 9:30 – 11:30 am. In memory of Dorothea, memorials to St. Lucy Parish School or to the Jane Cremer Foundation (for educating and empowering women in the fight against cancer) has been suggested. A heartfelt note of thanks to Dr. Richard N. Odders and his entire staff; and to the staff at Lincoln Village; for the compassionate care, support and friendship that was so warmly extended to Dorothea and to our family. God bless all of you!
