Dorothy L. Meier

May 29, 1924 – Jul 14, 2006

RACINE- Dorothy L. (nee: Heidenreich) Meier, 82, went to meet her Lord on Friday, July 14, 2006 following a courageous battle with cancer. Dorothy was born in Milwaukee on May 29, 1924 to the late August and Marie (nee: Michalek) Heidenreich. She proudly graduated from the Marquette University-School of Nursing. Dorothy served as a nurse at the Zablocki V.A. Medical Center in Milwaukee and the A-Center in Racine. On May 28, 1960 in Milwaukee, she was united in marriage with Gerald E. Meier. They moved to Racine in 1968. She was a longtime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Dorothy also was a 50-year member of the Marquette University Alumni. Among her interests, she enjoyed gardening and truly loved being a grandmother. She was a wonderful, courageous and intelligent woman whom will dearly missed. Surviving are her loving husband of 46 years, Gerald; sons, Jeffery P. (Sandy) Meier and David G. Meier; granddaughters, Stephanie M. and Nicole E. Meier; many other special relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her infant sister, Irene Heidenreich; and her feline companion, Kaily. In accordance with Dorothy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Private memorial services were held in Emmanuel Lutheran Church for her family on Wednesday. Interment followed in West Lawn Memorial Park. In memory of Dorothy, memorials to Emmanuel Lutheran Church have been suggested. A heartfelt note of thanks to the staff at Lincoln Village, especially nurses Carol and Bobbie, for the compassionate care and support that so warmly extended to Dorothy and to our family. God bless all of you!
