Dorothy M. Olson

Dec 18, 1926 – Feb 5, 2008

Racine – Dorothy M. Olson, 81, passed away unexpectedly at All Saints Hospital on Tuesday, February 5, 2008. She was born in Racine on December 18, 1926, daughter of the late Phillip and Marie (nee: Hanson) Hellman. She was a 1945 Park High School graduate. On December 20, 1947, Dorothy was married to Kenneth L. Olson at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. As a young woman, Dorothy worked for several local companies as a billing clerk and office manager. Her chosen life’s work, however, was that of wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed taking care of her flower garden, sewing, and playing with her grandchildren. She liked going to Florida. She also liked boating, swimming and riding her bicycle. Dorothy was an active and faithful member of Pentecost Lutheran Church. She is survived by her children, Dennis (Lynn) Olson of Kenosha, and Cheryl (Bill) Wood of Racine; grandchildren, Jeffrey Olson, Amber Olson, Billy (fiancée Erin Deschler) Wood, and Christopher Wood; brothers, Donald Hellmann and Robert (Alice) Helman both of Lancaster; and other relatives and friends. Her beloved husband, Kenneth, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at Pentecost Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 8, 2008 with Rev. Milan Babel officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Graceland Cemetery immediately following the service. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association or Pentecost Lutheran Church have been suggested.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Dear Bob,
I just wanted to thank you again for all your help and everything you did for my grandfather’s funeral. Looking back on it, I think Gramps would have been so proud of how everything turned out and it would not have been possible without your help. Your staff is amazing and has allowed us the grieve without worrying about the little details of everything that goes into making the arrangements and planning the services. You helped us honor one of the most amazing men in my life, and it meant so much to me personally and to my family. Thank you for everything.
Take care,
Jessie Tuttle
