Edna Marie Schierland

Dec 26, 1921 – Jul 13, 2007

Racine – Edna M. Schierland, 85, was born December 26, 1921, the daughter of Edward and Marie (nee: Wolfrum) Dibble in Sturtevant.

Edna was a woman of great strength and used that power to fight leukemia for the past seven months. She chose to end that battle on July 13, 2007, and continue her life’s journey with the Lord and her loved ones in His heavenly kingdom. She lived most of her life in Sturtevant and Racine, moving to Madison for several years. In 1941, she worked at JI Case Co., doing work associated with the war. She worked at various other factories until the 1970’s, when she joined the housekeeping staff at St. Luke’s hospital in Racine. She also worked in that capacity in Madison at Methodist Hospital, where she retired in the 1980’s. Before diabetes claimed her leg, Edna enjoyed gardening, feeding and watching the birds, and being with her pets. The Green Bay Packers was her team of choice. Most of all though, she loved and lived for her family. Through all of her trials and tribulations, she never forgot how to share her smile.

Enda was the beloved mother of Debi Vidanovic, very special friend to Jeanette; sister of Helen Masare of Seminole, Florida; sister-in-law of Pauline Dibble of Racine; aunt of Georgia, Sandy, Rita, and their respective families all of Racine. She will be missed by her much-loved canine companion, Baby Boy and feline friend, Red Devil. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, brother George Dibble, and brother-in-law Stephen Masare.

Complete services will be held in the chapel at West Lawn Memorial Park on Tuesday, July 17, 2007. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. followed by the service at 1:30 p.m.

Edna and Debi would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to all of the wonderful blood donors of S.E. Wisconsin, the staff at the Infusion Center, and the nurses on 2D at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Hospital.

Edna was a wonderful woman that smiled all the time in spite of her illnesses. She was caring, giving and loving. She was an inspiration to all that knew her.

Testimonials

December 22, 2016

Thank you so much for your staff’s gentle, patient, and thorough management of my nephew’s memorial service yesterday. It was run to perfection, and we couldn’t be more pleased. From the beautiful slide show transitions to the quality audio system to the easels, pedestals and Kringle…all details were impeccable and appreciated.
