Edward "Plukie" Mitchell

      Edward “Plukie” Mitchell, 79, passed away in Manor Care Center, Kenosha, on Tuesday, January 4, 2011. He was born in Atlanta, GA on September 2, 1931 the son of the late Luther and Lucille (nee: Watson) Mitchell Sr.

      Edward served his country with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He had been employed by Wheaton Franciscan- St. Luke’s for over 20 years until he retired. Edward enjoyed fishing, playing checkers, gin rummy and wrestling.

      Edward leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Anthony Mitchell, of Racine, and Patricia Stovers, of Joshua Tree National Park, CA; 4 grandchildren; sisters,

Catherine (Homer) Swift, of Racine, and Judith Mitchell, of Sag Harbor, NY; brothers, James (Mabel) Easley, Joseph Easley, all of Racine, Thomas and Donald Mitchell, both of Cincinnati, OH. His nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends further survive him. In addition to his parents and grandparents, Edward was preceded in death by his son, Edward P. Mitchell Jr. who died while serving his country in the U.S. Navy, brother, Luther Mitchell Jr., and niece, Mildred Barnes.

       Edward’s Homegoing service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, January 10th at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Darryl Simmons officiating.

Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial, with full military honors, will be in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Thursday January 13th at 12 noon.
