Elaine L. Raymaker, age 90, passed away at Ascension Hospital on June 16, 2018.
She was born November 16, 1927 in Racine, WI, the daughter of Edward & Agnes Gall. She graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School, Kenosha, WI. After graduation she attended Dominican College, Racine, WI where she received a BS Degree in Education as class Valedictorian. She taught third grade at Sacred Heart School, Racine, WI, and later second grade at Weiskopf School in Kenosha.
On Nov 12, 1954 she married the love of her life Donald J. Raymaker. He died on June 20, 1981. Following Don’s death, she resumed her teaching career and received a teaching certification as an Early Childhood teacher “because you can’t be sad around little children.” Combining her dual credentials she was a frequent substitute at Garfield Early Childhood School, as well as other Racine Unified Schools.
After her retirement she volunteered as a reader for the Reader’s group of The Racine Theatre Guild. She read to hundreds of children in public, parochial, and private schools. She loved encouraging children to read for enlightenment and entertainment.
Most of all she enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Raymaker is survived by one daughter, Donna (John) Udell, Racine; two sons, James D. Raymaker, Racine and Ron Raymaker, Shenandoah, TX; three Grandchildren. Ryan (Jessica) Udell, Franklin, WI; Jennifer (Fabian) Mendoza, Aurora, IL; Sebastiaen Raymaker, Shenadoah, TX; Four great-grandchildren, Trinity and Trent Udell, Emma Elaine Moore, and Arianna Mendoza; two brothers-in-law Robert (Margie) Raymaker; Richard (Carolyn) Raymaker; Norman LeGault; Nieces, nephews, cousins. Special friends Geri Laduron, Cathy Allison, and Margie Johns. Special neighbors & friends Sharon and Jerry Frievalt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Raymaker; her parents Edward and Agnes Gall; step-mother Olga Gall; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mae and Herman Raymaker; Aunts, Uncles, and cousins from the Teselic , Gall, and Ludwig Families; her best friend of 70 years Frances Smithana.
She was a member of St. Paul The Apostle Church. According to her wishes private services will be held, with entombment in the West Lawn Cemetery Crypts. Memorials to St. Paul The Apostle Church or one’s favorite charity would be appreciated.
