RACINE – Mrs. Ellen M. Kovac, 95, entered eternal life at Ridgewood Care Center with her family by her side on Thursday, February 16, 2017.
A lifelong resident of Racine, she was born on February 5, 1922, the daughter of the late Charles and Esther (nee: Frank) Cullen. On August 2, 1941 she married Edward J. Kovac, Sr. He preceded her in death on September 30, 2007.
Mrs. Kovac was a longtime member of St. Richard Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, watching the Packers and Brewers and being in the company of her family. She especially took pleasure in attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s games and events.
Mrs. Kovac is survived by her son and daughters, Edward (Linda) Kovac, Jr. of Casa Grande, AZ, Tina (Alex) Abromaitis of Caledonia and Patty (Robin) Jacobsen of Racine; her grandchildren, Billy Bean, Joe (Becky) Kovac, Tom Kovac, Brian (Shawn) Briggs, Jason (Jami) Kovac, Mark Contois, Laura Abromaitis, Julie (Staff Sergeant Justin, USMC) Slaasted, Sarah Weidner, Peter (Rebecca) Jacobsen, Andrew (Jessica) Jacobsen. She is further survived by 23 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Kovac was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Colette Contois; as well as four sisters and two brothers.
Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Monday evening for a visitation from 4-6 p.m. The celebration of her life and funeral Mass will take place at St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church (1509 Grand Ave) on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating. There will also be a visitation at church on Tuesday from 9-10 a.m. Her interment will follow the Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia. A heartfelt thank you is extended to Ridgewood Care Center (1 West) and Hospice Alliance for the exceptional treatment, dignity and respect she received while under their care.
