Ervin M. "Jun" Riedi, Jr.

Ervin M. “Jun” Riedi, Jr. Racine – Mr. Ervin M. “Jun” Riedi, Jr., 80, died at St. Mary’s Medical Center on Tuesday, April 11, 2006. He was born on November 12, 1925 to the late Ervin and Edna (nee: Schreiber) Riedi, Sr. He grew up in Eleva, WI and moved to Racine in the early 1950’s. On September 5, 1953 he married the former Beverly Mertinke in Atonement Lutheran Church. Mr. Riedi served his country with the US Army during the Korean War. He worked for American Motors and Chrysler Corporation for 35 years, retiring in 1990. He was a farmer in his heart. He loved to garden, especially his vegetables. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. In addition to his loving wife Beverly of 52 years, his survivors include his children, Kenneth Riedi, Diane Riedi; step-son, Michael (Gale) Martin; grandsons, Richard Martin, David (Lisa) Martin; great-granddaughter, Olivya Martin all of Racine; sister, Lois Duesterbeck of Pahrump, NV, brother-in-law, Vernon (Rose) Mertinke of Eau Claire; sister-in-law, Delores Von Ruden of Owatonna, MN; as well as nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by his son, Robert S. Riedi; sister, Elaine Green; brother, Robert Riedi; and brothers-in-law, Bernie Duesterbeck, Donald Mertinke, and Raymond Von Ruden. Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at 7:00 pm for the celebration of Ervin’s life with Rev. Dr. Warren D. Williams officiating. There will be a visitation at the funeral home from 6-7 pm. There will also be a memorial service held in Eau Claire on Friday, April 21, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. in the Evergreen Funeral Home and Crematory (4611 Commerce Valley Rd. 715-830-5470). Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Memorials have been suggested to Atonement Lutheran Church’s youth program.
