
Racine – Eugene Walter Grabher, 89, received the promise of eternal life on March 24, 2013. He was born in Racine on July 14, 1923, son of the late Benjamin and Alma (nee: Dunse) Grabher.
Eugene was united in marriage on May 27, 1950, to the love of his life, Evelyn Ann Nelson, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Gene graduated from Park High School in 1942. He then faithfully served his country in the United States Army. Gene was employed as a quality assurance inspector for Modine Manufacturing and then Webster Electric until he retired in 1985.
Gene enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and baseball. His favorite team was the St. Louis Cardinals ever since Stan Musial played for them in the 50s and 60s. Gene was also an avid fisherman who never missed an opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors and catch his limit. His favorite retreat was Big Sand Lake near Phelps, WI. Above all, Gene was a family man and cherished the time spent with his entire family. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
Gene leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 62 years, Evelyn Grabher; daughters, Jeanne (Bruce) Everard, Linda (Mark) LaMere; grandchildren, Melissa Everard, Lindsay (Andrew) Beyer, Heather (Adam) Pron; great-grandchildren, Keira Beyer, Paige Pron, and Brooke Pron. In addition to his parents, Gene is preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Grace Pron; and step-father, Lyle Lewis.
A memorial service with full military honors will be celebrated on Thursday, March 28, 2013, 3:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00pm until the time of the service. Private interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. The family has suggested memorials to the Salvation Army, Paralyzed Vets, and the Wisconsin Humane Society.
