Waupaca (formerly of Racine)- Frances Pauline (nee: Shoop) Kolonick, 91, passed away at the Bethany Home in Waupaca on Saturday, May 31, 2008. Frances was born in Racine on March 22, 1917 to the late Sylvester and Veronica (nee: //Ropel) Shoop. So very proud of her Polish heritage, she was also a member of the Polish League. Among her interests, she enjoyed playing cards and singing. A kid at heart, Fran excitingly drove a ’80 Camaro on her 65th Birthday. A devoted and tireless homemaker, Frances proudly earned her high school diploma at age 60. Above all, without a doubt, her family was her greatest joy in life. Surviving are her sons, Walter G. Kolonick, Jr. of Waupaca; Edmond Kolonick of Winter; and Donald Kolonick of Union Grove; grandchildren, Lisa Lehr, Mary (George) Wadsworth, James (Julie) Kolonick, Jennifer (Stephen) Podesta, Edward Chase and Diane (Rusty) Rowlands; 9 great-grandchildren; Joshua (Theresa) Beranis, Rosie Beranis, Timothy (Katie) Kolonick, Daniel (Rebecca) Kolonick, Katelyn Kolonick, Theodore Lehr, Owen Rowlands, Mason Rowlands, and Elise Chase; very special close family friends, Kathy Rodeck, June Kolonick, Sue Norman, Kelly Chase and Gloria Aiello; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Frances was preceded in death by her grandson, Jeffrey Kolonick; and brothers, Stanley and Edmond Shoop. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 7, 2008 in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., at 10:00 am with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 9-10 am. Just way too many wonderful and loving memories of Nana to express here.

I’m lighting a beautiful candle for her each night as I think of her and remember her happy-go-luck attitude and many hugs n kisses.

Nana was and is the best Nana ever!!

We will remember Francis (Franny) as a compassionate, loving, giving person. She was always a good listener, always kind to our family, and simply a glowing warmth and presence. Surely there is a vacancy here on earth for her absence and a brillance somewhere in the universe with her rebirth.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Mike and the staff went above and beyond during our very difficult time with passing of our Opa. Mike helped relieve the immense stress by being extremely professional, paying attention to the smallest details and the overall kindness and compassion in caring for our family at our time of need. We do not believe that a thank you truly covers our deep gratitude towards you. Thank you for everything you have done for us.
