Frederick H. Bremer

Frederick H. Bremer, 87, passed away in the Wisconsin Veterans Home, Union Grove, on December 25, 2009. He was born in Wausau, WI on Dec. 23, 1922 the son of the late Elmer and Esther (nee: Seefeldt) Bremer. Mr. Bremer served his country with the U.S. Army Paratroopers, in both, WWII and the Korean War, and was awarded several medals including the Purple Heart. On March 11, 1952, he was united in marriage to the former Myra Leone Hogan who preceded him in death on March 28, 1999. Mr. Bremer had been employed by Racine Steel Castings for over 34 years retiring in 1984. Mr. Bremer was a lifelong member of Immanuel Baptist Church and served as Treasurer for 16 years. He was also a member of the Racine Steel Casting’s 20 Year Club. He was a hard working man who was dedicated to his God, his family and his employer. Surviving are his 2 sons, Jeff (Georgia) Bremer, of Menomonie, WI, Scott (Kim) Bremer, of Racine; grandchildren, Trisha (Brian) O’Leary, of Elkhorn, Matthew Bremer, of Racine, and Rhiannon Bremer of Menomonie, WI; great grandson Tyler O’Leary of Elkhorn; brothers and sister, Elmer (Alice) Bremer of Wausau, Donald Bremer, of Los Altos, CA, Dorothy Canada, and James Bremer, both of Schofield, WI. His nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family, and friends further survive him. In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Mr. Bremer was preceded in death by his sister, Bernice Jobs and brother, Tom Bremer. His funeral service will be in the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28th with Rev. Arne Gulbrandsen officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Private burial, with full military honors, will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park. The family has suggested memorials to Immanuel Baptist Church. The family would like to thank Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove for the kind and loving care Fred received during his stay with them.

I would like to thank Mike Langendorf, Bill Althaus and the rest of the staff for the wonderful celebration of the life for my father Raymond L. Szymanski who was a WWII veteran. I especially appreciate how much you really listen and the questions you asked regarding who my father was and what he was all about. Those details showed up in every part of the service from the flowers, the music, the thank you’s, pictures, obituary, outdoor military honors, etc. etc. My father would have been so grateful for the way you honored his life.
