George Elmer Christopherson

vet
Aug 6, 1925 – Mar 12, 2010

Racine-George Elmer Christopherson, 84, passed away in Racine on March 12, 2010. Born in Racine, WI. on August 6 1925, George was the son of John and Emily (nee: Peterson) Christopherson. On December 12, 1953 he was united in marriage to Rose Osilius until her death in 1992. In 1993, he was joined in marriage to Darlene Gleason from Dresser, WI. George served in the United States Army for 2 & ½ years during WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heart for an injury he received during the Battle of the Bulge on Christmas Eve, 1944. He was employed by Massie Ferguson and Walker MFG. CO. for numerous years, and upon his retirement George moved to a home he built in Crandon, WI. He loved spending time tinkering in his barn and shed, making things with his hands. George enjoyed connecting with people through humor and jokes, and he was quick to lend a helping hand whenever needed. He generously read and recorded books for the blind, volunteered at church, and donated his time and skills to Habitat for Humanity. He touched the lives of many special friends in Racine, Crandon, and Yuma. George is survived by his wife, Darlene; 4 children: Gloria (John) Younk, Carol (Thomas) Clark, David Christopherson, and Bruce (Pam) Christopherson; 8 grandchildren: Joshua and April Clark; David, Katie, and Jennifer Younk; and Michael, Luke and Peter Christopherson; step-daughter, Joyce Diedrich and her children, Tyler and Riley Diedrich; and sister-in-law Eva Christopherson. George was preceded in death by his wife, Rose; his older brother, John; and his parents, John and Emily. Funeral services will be held in Northern Wisconsin on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 10:30 am in Arbutus Lutheran Church (W6607 Church Lane Pearson, WI). Interment, with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at Suminski-Weber-Hill Funeral Home (302 S. Lake Ave. Crandon, WI 54520) on Friday from 4-8 pm and in the church on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 am.

Testimonials

August 1, 2025

Words cannot even begin to express the tremendous gratitude our family has for a team like the one at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home & Crematory. Thank you for the gentle lovely care over our mother Delia (Rosa) Balderas. Never having had a direct experience with a funeral home to this extent we didnt know what to expect. We didnt have a clue that they would step right in and have the most comforting team surrounding us that thought of ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING for anyone in our position. It was very evident from the first discussion on the phone that they were already well prepared to handle every little detail for us that we weren’t even aware would be required. Mark and his team truly eased so much of the unknown worries right out of our path, and left room for us to just focus on the small personal details we wanted for our mom. It was nice to know that all cost involved was in black and white on their site as well as on paper at our first meeting. Leaving no room for question or doubt what so ever with any fee involved. It was truly a blessing to have everything written out so well and simplified with various price range options in a time that we needed crystal clear direction. Its been beautiful to see that their care and service didnt stop after our mom’s service came to an end. They continue to be in communication with immediate responses as questions arise along the way. God bless Mark, and the entire compassionate team, to be around to guide many many more for generations to come through life’s most difficult times. You are all truly amazing.

Hilda Balderas
