Geraldine "Geri" Emma Gedemer

Aug 31, 1921 – Jun 30, 2007

RACINE – Our hearts are saddened as our dear mother and grandma left us on June 30, 2007 to be with our dad in heaven. She was loved very much and we are proud she was part of our lives. Mom was born on August 31, 1921, the child of the late Edgar and Rose (nee: Marsch) Davis. She was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School. On October 11, 1941, she married Eugene Gedemer. He preceded her in death on February 5, 1978. Mom worked for Racine Unified School District for 18 years. She lived a very active and spiritually motivated life. She loved involvement with people in her community. She was active with St. Richard’s (Holy Name) Church for many years as a lector and president of Christian Mothers. She recently attended St. Paul the Apostle Church. Mom volunteered many hours at both St. Mary’s and St. Luke’s Hospitals. She also served as president of the Catholic Women’s Club; past regent of Daughters of Isabella and vice-president of Civic Council, where in 1996 was nominated “Woman of the Year.” Mom enjoyed life to the fullest. Her spirits were always high, had a great source of humor and loved traveling to see new places and meeting new people all over the world. She most enjoyed caring for her family. Her survivors include her children, Ron (Carolyn) Gedemer of Racine, Tim (Kathy) Gedemer of Grayslake, IL, Susan (Steve) Benik of Racine; 6 grandchildren who referred to her as a Coo-Coo Grandma and Grandma Geri, Matthew (Heather Flores) Gedemer, Lee (fiancé, Rick Seater) Iselin, Brian Gedemer, Andrew Gedemer, Kyle Benik, Chad Benik; great granddaughters, Breanna Lee Gedemer, Jalen Gedemer; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty Gedemer, Marion Gedemer, LaVerne Horton, Joseph (Nell) Gedemer and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Mom, was also preceded in death by an infant sister; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard, Norbert, Marvin and Jerome Gedemer, Martin (Catherine) Pekar, Al Horton, Evelyn Hettig, Ottilia Ruelle, Josephine Gedemer and LaVerne Gedemer. The celebration of her funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church on Friday, July 6, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. There will be a visitation in the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. and in the church on Friday from 8:30 – 9:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia. Memorials have been suggested to St. Catherine’s High School. In one moment our best friend was gone. We miss you. Our lives will never be the same but we will always remember and love you.

Testimonials

Words cannot even begin to express the tremendous gratitude our family has for a team like the one at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home & Crematory. Thank you for the gentle lovely care over our mother Delia (Rosa) Balderas. Never having had a direct experience with a funeral home to this extent we didnt know what to expect. We didnt have a clue that they would step right in and have the most comforting team surrounding us that thought of ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING for anyone in our position. It was very evident from the first discussion on the phone that they were already well prepared to handle every little detail for us that we weren’t even aware would be required. Mark and his team truly eased so much of the unknown worries right out of our path, and left room for us to just focus on the small personal details we wanted for our mom. It was nice to know that all cost involved was in black and white on their site as well as on paper at our first meeting. Leaving no room for question or doubt what so ever with any fee involved. It was truly a blessing to have everything written out so well and simplified with various price range options in a time that we needed crystal clear direction. Its been beautiful to see that their care and service didnt stop after our mom’s service came to an end. They continue to be in communication with immediate responses as questions arise along the way. God bless Mark, and the entire compassionate team, to be around to guide many many more for generations to come through life’s most difficult times. You are all truly amazing.

Hilda Balderas
