Gregory "Uncle G" Woods

Feb 13, 1958 – Jan 8, 2007

Mr. Gregory A. Woods was born February 13, 1958 in Racine, WI to the late Harry Sr. and Melelia Woods. Gregory departed this life on January 8, 2007 after a courageous battle with endocarditis. During his life he touched everyone with his sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing basketball with his grandsons and nephews, playing Coon Cane- “Some can, some cant”. To those who knew him best, knew Gregory as “Uncle G”, “G-Dub”, “Uncle Fleetwood and “G-Money.” His favorite saying was “Guess what?” Gregory leaves to cherish his memories his only son Dartavian DeShawn Watson(Fiancée: Melinda Thompson) and his sister Natalie Watson; two grandsons, Dartavian and Darrion Watson, long time companion of 21 years Marilyn Jump; one brother Harry Jr., three sisters Marilyn, Brenda and Barbara all of Racine, WI; one nephew DeAndrae Sr. (Brenda) of Racine; two nieces LaTonia of Racine, and DeNeatha of Maryland; one aunt Susan Dunn; four uncles Leo Burrell Jr., Robert Burrell, Willie James Dunn all of Alabama, James Ellington Sr. of Ohio; special friends: Melanie Campbell, John Martin, Ricky Cameron, Maurice Gardner and Dwight Lassiter and a host of other relatives and friends. Gregory was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents and Aunt Levonia. Homegoing services will be celebrated on Monday, January 15, 2007 at 11 am in Searching Together Baptist Church, 825-21st Street. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a viewing at the church on Monday from 9:30 – 11 am.
