Harry Joseph Torosian, Jr.

Racine– Harry J. Torosian Jr., age 79, passed away peacefully at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Saturday, December 29, 2012 with his family at his side.

Harry was born in Racine on July 13, 1933 – the only child of Harry J. Torosian, Sr. and Takouhi (nee: Jelemetian) Torosian.  He graduated from William Horlick High School in 1951. Following, he faithfully served our Country with the United States Army in the Korean War for 1953-55. On July 13, 1957 (his 24^th birthday) in St. Edward Catholic Church, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Lillian Barbara (nee: Czosnek).

Harry was employed by Jacobsen – Textron for over 33 years, retiring in 1995. He was a longtime member of St. Lucy Catholic Church where he tirelessly volunteered at the St. Lucy Summer Festival for many years – even when it fell on his birthday and anniversary. Harry was also a member of the Eagles Club. As an incredibly talented carpenter, there wasn’t anything that Harry could not fix. Among his interests, Harry enjoyed playing cards, trying his luck at Potawatomi, watching the Packers and Brewers; and, of course, working on projects. Above all, he cherished the times spent with his entire family. Harry will be remembered as an extremely kind gentleman – who loved helping and socializing with others.

Surviving are his loving wife of over 55 years, Lillian; their children, Charles (Theresa) Torosian Sr., Thomas Torosian, Lisa Maycock, Michael Torosian and Steven (Susan) Torosian; grandchildren, Charles Joseph “CJ” (Kelli) Torosian, Zachary Torosian (currently stationed in the Middle East with the US Navy), Kaitlin Torosian, Nicholas Walsh, Dylan Maycock, Sophia and Sara Torosian; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and the countless number of friends and “adopted children and grandchildren” that he thought of and treated as family.

In addition to his own parents, Harry was preceded in death by Lillian’s parents, John and Magdalena Czosnek; sisters-in-law, Julia (Robert) DeHahn, Mary (Sheridan) Adams and Helen (Emerick) Weisbrod; and brothers-in-law, John, Joe, Ed (Mavis) and Jerome “Harry” (Pat) Czosnek. Additionally, he was preceded in death by many other good friends, nieces, and cousins. Prior to his birth, Harry’s eight half brothers and sisters were killed in the Armenian Genocide.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 4, 2013 at 11:00 am at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32.  Visitation will be on Thursday evening in St. Lucy Church (3101 Drexel Avenue) from 4-8 pm and on Friday from 10-11 am. In memory of Harry, offer a kind deed to someone in need. Contributions to one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
