Sturtevant – Helen I. Schroeder, 90, passed away at Oak Ridge care Center in Union Grove on Saturday, August 4, 2007. She was born in Racine on January 17, 1917, daughter of the late Hans Peter and Gertrude (nee: Jensen) Hansen. On July 12, 1942 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Schroeder at Trinity Lutheran Church in Raymond Center. Helen worked for many years alongside her husband, Larry, at Schroeder’s Corners. She also had a long career as a corporate secretary at Twin Disc, and at Diamond Transportation where she retired in 1982. Helen enjoyed fishing and golf, and spent many winters in Florida and summers in the vacation home in Hayward. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence “Larry” Schroeder; her sons, Lawrence (Frauna) Schroeder, Jr. of LaGrande, Oregon, John (Norma) Schroeder, and Peter Schroeder both of Racine; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; as well as her nieces, nephews, special friends, and loving and caring neighbors. She was also preceded by her sons, William Schroeder and Thomas Schroeder; 2 sisters, and 2 brothers. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at Epiphany Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael D. Zarling officiating. Committal will follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove. Visitation in the church will begin at 9:00 a.m. Memorials to Epiphany Lutheran Church have been suggested. Our family wished to extend many thanks to the wonderful staff at Oak Ridge Care Center, and also to Dr. James Simonds for the loving care Helen received from all of you.
