Herbert Newman Peterson

Feb 18, 1921 – Jun 14, 2007

Racine- Herbert Newman Peterson, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at Ridgewood Care Center. He was born in Port Washington, WI on February 18, 1921 to the late Severin and Isabelle (nee: Goodman) Peterson. Herb proudly served our Country in the 8th Air Force of the Army Air Corps in England during WWII. Herb was united in marriage to the love of his life, Lorraine Inga Card, on September 17, 1949. She preceded him in death on March 18, 1994. During his career, Herb was employed as Vice-President of Badger Lines Trucking Co. for over 25 years. After, he worked as an inventory production control manager at Allen-Bradley for over 17 years, retiring on November 13, 1987. Among his interests, Herb enjoyed flying, horseback riding and gardening. During his courageous struggle with Parkinson’s Disease, he served as Wisconsin Parkinson’s Assn. board President from 1991-95. Above all, Herb loved being in the surroundings of his entire family. Surviving are his sons, Leif Peterson and Eric (Carol) Peterson; grandson, Erik (Becky) Lindenberg; great-grandson, Joseph Lindenberg; brothers, DuWayne (Mary Ann) Peterson and Ollie (Rosie) Peterson; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Herbert was preceded in death by his sisters, Frances, Myrtle and Priscilla; and brother, Manny. A memorial service celebrating Herb’s life will be held on Monday, June 18, 2007 at 10:30 am at Ridgewood Care Center, 3205 Wood Rd., with Chaplain Julie Curcio officiating. Visitation will be at Ridgewood on Monday from 10-10:30 am. Private interment will take place at a later date. Memorials to Wisconsin Parkinson’s Association or to Ridgewood Care Center Gardens has been suggested. A special note of thanks to the wonderful staff at Ridgewood especially on 2E for the compassionate care and support extended to Herb and to our family during the past 18 months. Your kindness and patience will always be remembered!

Words cannot even begin to express the tremendous gratitude our family has for a team like the one at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home & Crematory. Thank you for the gentle lovely care over our mother Delia (Rosa) Balderas. Never having had a direct experience with a funeral home to this extent we didn’t know what to expect. We didn’t have a clue that they would step right in and have the most comforting team surrounding us that thought of ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING for anyone in our position. It was very evident from the first discussion on the phone that they were already well prepared to handle every little detail for us that we weren’t even aware would be required. Mark and his team truly eased so much of the unknown worries right out of our path, and left room for us to just focus on the small personal details we wanted for our mom. It was nice to know that all cost involved was in black and white on their site as well as on paper at our first meeting. Leaving no room for question or doubt what so ever with any fee involved. It was truly a blessing to have everything written out so well and simplified with various price range options in a time that we needed crystal clear direction. Its been beautiful to see that their care and service didn’t stop after our mom’s service came to an end. They continue to be in communication with immediate responses as questions arise along the way. God bless Mark, and the entire compassionate team, to be around to guide many many more for generations to come through life’s most difficult times. You are all truly amazing.
