
Mr. J. Jay Anderson, 76, died at All Saints – St. Mary’s Medical Center on Thursday, December 29, 2005. He was born in Kenosha on July 20, 1929 to John E. and Jennie (nee: Ostergaard) Anderson. Jay attended Kenosha public schools and graduated from Bradford High School in 1948. On December 30, 1950 he married the former Phyllis A. McCue. Jay served his nation as a sergeant with the US Army Corps of Engineers (409th Engineering Brigade) during the Korean War, stationed in Pusan, Korea. He worked for SC Johnson Wax for 34 years, developing new products and holding many patents. He retired as a Senior Research and Development Designer in 1987. He used his architecture and design skills to design and build his own homes in Kenosha and Racine. He also designed several homes for friends. Jay was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, boating and waterskiing. He especially loved his convertibles, a ‘65 Chevy Impala and a ‘71 Olds Delta 88 Royale. He belonged to the Johnson 20-Year Club and Ducks Unlimited. He was a board member of the Racine Association for Retarded Citizens (The ARC) for several years in the 1970’s. In addition to his loving wife of 55 years, Phyllis; he is survived by his children, Karen (Jim) Zickus of Racine, Dennis Anderson of Pomona, CA, Doug (Peggy) Anderson of Racine, Donna (Robert) Padilla of Janesville; brother, Gilbert Anderson and his mother, Hjordis Anderson both of Kenosha; grandchildren, Adam, Laura, Brenda and David Zickus, Dennis “D.J.” Anderson, Kristin (Ryan) Horn, Emily and Gregory Anderson, Matthew and Megan Padilla. His daughter, Paula Anderson, preceded him in death on January 18, 1984. Friends and family are invited to the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 for visitation from 4-6 pm. A service celebrating J. Jay Anderson’s life with Rev. Jeffrey M. Thielen officiating will be held at 6:00 p.m. following the visitation. Private burial with military honors will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park on Wednesday morning. His family has suggested memorials to either Careers Industries, Inc or The ARC.
