James Marvin Lail

vet
Feb 2, 1942 – Jul 28, 2017

Sheboygan – James Marvin Lail, formerly of Racine, passed at the Select Specialty Hospital in West Allis on Friday July 28, 2017. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on February 2, 1942, son of the late Charles and Norma (nee: Mann) Lail. He was 75. Following his graduation from high school, Jim enlisted into the US Air Force where his career spanned 22 years. When he retired in 1981 he had become one of their most valuable radar technicians. Jim returned to Wisconsin and settled in Sheboygan and worked for the Kohler Company as an electrical blue-print engineer.

Jim’s military and engineering background contributed to his personal traits of being punctual, having attention for details, and his dislike of anyone driving slow in the left lane. He enjoyed attending orchestra concerts and basketball games, watching NASCAR (Dale Earnhardt Sr. was his favorite) and historical programs on TV, and friendly football pools. Jim also liked to drive and explore parts unknown, the company of friends, watching movies and ordering in.

Jim is survived by his sisters and brothers: Nina Charlene Lipke, Lawrence (Donna) Lail, (Dutch) Hoyt, Terry (Wendy) Lail all of Racine, and Jerry (Pam) Lail of Odessa, Texas; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including Kristi Jolitz and her family in Sheboygan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Charles Lail Jr; and niece Charlene Edmonson.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday August 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Tony Gulbrandson officiating. Interment and military honors will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation in the funeral home will begin at 12 noon.
