Jeanette Augusta Voge

Jan 10, 1932 – Sep 16, 2013

Union Grove – Jeanette Augusta (nee: Brown) Voge, age 81, passed away peacefully at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Tuesday evening, September 16, 2013.

Jeanette was born in Lafayette Township of Walworth County, Wisconsin on January 10, 1932 to the late Harry John Louis Brown and Dorothy Martha (nee: Jung) Brown. Following high school, she moved to Arizona. It was there that she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Glenn Irving Voge, on June 7, 1951. Shortly after, they moved back to Wisconsin to help operate the family farm.

During her working career, Jeanette was employed by Southern Wisconsin Center in food service. However, her favorite and most important role was serving her family as a faithful and tireless homemaker, a job she completely excelled at. Thus, she proudly served as President of the Racine County Extension Homemakers.

Jeanette was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Union Grove. She also had served as General Leader for the Racine County 4-H Club. A true farm girl, Jeanette was a fantastic cook who loved baking, canning and freezing. Years ago, she won a Blue Ribbon for her award-winning homemade ketchup at the Racine County Fair. You never could leave her house hungry as she would insist on serving a home-cooked meal. Jeanette was also an excellent seamstress and brilliant artist. She will be remembered as an awesome wife, mother and grandmother who always opened her home to someone young in need.

Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Glenn; their children, Steven (Ann) Voge, Linda Bratz, Mary (Ed) Adams and Daniel G. (Diane C.) Voge; grandchildren, Hannah (Jacob) Sampe, Justina (Allan) Busch, Amanda (Marty) Welbon, Evan Bratz, Samuel Bratz, Joshua (Sarah) Jamison, Dawn (Rick) Hope, Andrew Glenn (Amy) Voge, Danielle Elizabeth Voge, Kevin Daniel (Tiffany) Voge, Emma Ann Voge, Abigail Augusta Voge, Nathaniel Willis Voge, Olivia Elizabeth Voge, Lila Marie Voge and Kate Marie Voge; 13 beautiful great-grandchildren (the youngest was born the same day Jeanette died); sisters, Doreen (Ray) Drabek and Judith Ryder; sisters-in-law, Viola Bertelson, Joanne (Rudy) Topolovec, Mardell (Wayne) Fuller and Rita (Gerald) Molitor; brother-in-law, Karl (Kathy) Voge; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends –  including those to which she continuously opened her home and heart to over the years.

In addition to her parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Eugene Bratz; grandson, Joseph Glenn Jamison; Glenn’s parents, Leslie and Ruth (nee: Higgins) Voge; and brothers-in-law, Don Bertelson, Don Bauer and Leslie Gordon Voge.

In accordance with Jeanette’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 12:00 noon in Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church – 2908 S. Colony Avenue (Hwy 45 & 58th Road) in Union Grove, with Rev. David G. Peters officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon. Memorials to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church – Union Grove or to Wheaton Franciscan Cancer Center have been suggested.

Our family has suffered a tremendous loss with the passing of Grandma Jeanette. I was privileged to be able to get to know her during the past 4 1/2 years when I first met my husband Andy and loved and appreciated her almost like my own grandma. She was an exceptional lady who always had a kind word for everyone she met. I will always remember in particular her warmth, generosity, baking abilities, her smile, her genuine love of family, and her easy-going personality. We will never forget you Jeanette and you will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for being the wonderful person that you were and for the beautiful memories.

I am very sorry to have to miss the memorial and services for Aunt Jeanette! I was very fond of her and sad to hear of her passing. The Voge’s were ALWAYS a favorite place to visit on our trips to Wisconsin with our parents. My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time…
