Burlington – Jeannette Tollaug Esther Matson, 97, entered into eternal life on Sunday, December 30, 2012. She was born in Racine on October 18, 1915, daughter of the late John and Sophie (nee: Sorenson) Hansen.
Jeannette managed several grocery stores over the years including Fairway Foods in Racine and the Sturtevant Superette. She was a member of Holy Communion Church prior to moving to Marinette. Jeannette is a past-president of the Florence Nightingale Society. She enjoyed playing all kinds of card games. Jeannette cherished her family and will be missed dearly.
Jeannette leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Joan Steinhoff of Racine, Dolores (Erwin) Green of Marinette; grandchildren, John (Jeanne) Steinhoff of Caledonia, James Steinhoff, Jeff (Jackie) Steinhoff of Racine, Jeannette (Ed Soler) Simonsen of Kenosha, Allen (Lisa) Green of Minnesota, Andrew (Kara Behnke) Green of Marinette, Christopher (Tina) Green of Racine; 19 great-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Jeannette is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Judy Steinhoff; brother, Russell Hansen; and son-in-law, LeRoy Steinhoff.
Cremation will take place according to Jeannette’s wishes. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
The family would like to extend a heart-felt “Thank You” to the staff at Arbor View Communities in Burlington and Gentiva Hospice in Milwaukee.
