Racine – Mrs. Jerlene (nee: Woods) Jackson entered into eternal life on Friday September 27, 2019 in Racine, Wisconsin.

On January 16, 1940 Jerlene became the 8th child of the late Elroy and Georgia (nee: Pegues Woods in Oxford, Mississippi. At an early age she confessed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Oxford, MS.

On October 27, 1957 she was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life Boyd W. Jackson Sr. To that union they were blessed with four children.

Jerlene and her family relocated to Wisconsin in 1959 were she united and became an active member of Greater Mt. Eagle Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. E.E. Woods.  Jerlene served on the Usher Board and The United Church Ushers of Wisconsin until her health began to fail.  Jerlene was currently under the leadership of Pastor Keith T. Evans. She was employed at the Rainfair Corporation until her retirement.

Jerlene is survived by her four children Harold (Brenda) Jackson, Mary (Lamar) Tobias, Crystal Jackson-Johnson of all of Racine, WI and Boyd Jackson Jr of Rochester, NY; grandchildren, LaKeisha, Kenya, LaRita (George), Shana, SheVentria, Alfredo Sr (Tracy), Lamar Jr, Antonio Sr, Keith, Christopher, Kyle (Tiffany), Kevin (Monserrat) and Brittany; great-grandchildren Champagne, Qiondia, Quayvion, George Jr, Serenity, Harmoni, Morgan, Robert, Alfredo Jr, Brooklyn, Travon, Trayvion, Tryrion, Jayden, Neaveh, Antonio Jr, Kyvyn, Justin, Jordan, Ryland, Harper, Cole, Declan, Manny, Darnell and one on the way; special grandchildren: Kim, Pam, Tanisha, LaShawn, Jasmine and DuWayne three godchildren Lester Chenney Jr., Rebecca Tate and Sherrita Sterling; five sisters Mattie McJunkins of Racine, WI, Ada Pegues, Ruthie Smith, Jessie Brazil and Louise Holland and one brother Jerome (Maxine) Woods all of Oxford, MS; sisters-n-law, Clemmie Foots of Maryland, Bertha Blackmon, Jerlene (Nathaniel) Barker, Pauline Jackson all of WI and Lillie Jackson of Georgia; brothers-n-law  Elder Calvin (Clara) Jackson of WI, Robert (Georgia) Jackson of MS and Larry (Hattie) Jackson of Arizona; special friend James Moore and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jerlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Boyd W. Jackson Sr; sister Ruby McJunkins; brothers Robert, Charlie B, John H., Curtis and JW Woods as well as her Grandson Shavonta Jackson.

The Celebration of Her Life will be held on Monday October 7, 2019 11:00 at Greater Mt. Eagle Missionary Baptist Church, 929 State St., Racine, WI.  Visitation will be in the church from 10:00am until the time of service.  Pastor Keith T. Evans will be officiating.  Interment will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park.

The family would like to give a special thank you to her nurse Shelia Carter and the staff of Allay Home & Hospice Inc.

    I’m so sorry for the passing of this wonderful lady. I remember always being welcomed in her home and treated like a granddaughter. We all would lay in that California King bed and watch television. LaKeisha, and LaRita I’m uplifting you all in prayer. I send condolences to the entire family. God bless you all.
