Memorial Suggestions

In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to the Racine Theatre Guild (2519 Northwestern Ave., Racine, WI 53404) would be appreciated by Jills family.

Jill K. Dexter, age 69 of Racine, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 10, 2020 in Crivitz, WI while on vacation with her family.

Jill was born in Racine on October 3, 1950, a daughter of the late Ralph D. and Hazel G. (Nee: Wolff) Miller.

On June 13, 1977 in Racine, she was united in marriage to Arthur Dexter.  Over their forty-three years of marriage, Jill and Art selflessly cared for over sixty children as crisis foster parents.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Sturtevant. Jill spent countless hours over a forty-year span as a strong supporter and extremely active volunteer with the Racine Theater Guild.  She was extremely proud of her accomplishment of receiving the certification of a Certified Dental Technician. Jill was employed with one of the largest dental labs in the country.

Survivors include her husband Art; her three children, James Dexter, Ellen Dexter, and Anna Dexter; six grandchildren, and her brothers, Kurt (Paula) Miller, and Dan (Gail) Miller.

Dear Jill we go back several decades at RTG. LOTS OF LAUGHS with you and Art. I still remember so long ago reflecting on the love you two shared when seeing you wrapped in each other’s arms sitting on the floor at a cast party. It was truly inspirational. We will all miss so much about you.

I am 1 of the 60. The definition of unconditional love is Jill!❤️ She loved me and didn’t even know me. I was 14 years old when I was placed in foster care with Art & Jill. They came to get me and sat down with 2 Big Macs and said I hear you like Big Macs. I was like I like these people. I’m now 53 and I loved Jill with all my heart and she loved me when she didn’t even know me. Unconditional love!Jill ❤️

Jill was our favorite storyteller. She could embellish any happening, person or object, but we most enjoyed her stories about her dogs that she loved so much. In fact, she & Cynthy are the impetus behind Phil & I acquiring our sweet dog Oreo. Phil went to play rehearsal at RTG & came home that night to say Jill & Cynthy are “strongly” (Jill was very persuasive!) urging us to see some abandoned puppies at a vet in the morning. Thank you, Jill, for being so persuasive & encouraging.
We will greatly miss you as part of the RTG Family & will miss hearing your voice as stage manager in the booth.
Jill can now look down from above to see Art holding both dogs in his lap.

Testimonials

October 9, 2020

I would like to thank Mike Langendorf, Bill Althaus and the rest of the staff for the wonderful celebration of the life for my father Raymond L. Szymanski who was a WWII veteran. I especially appreciate how much you really listen and the questions you asked regarding who my father was and what he was all about. Those details showed up in every part of the service from the flowers, the music, the thank you’s, pictures, obituary, outdoor military honors, etc. etc. My father would have been so grateful for the way you honored his life. I also received phone calls from family and friends indicating how beautiful the service was in every way. You and your staff definitely go above and beyond. You treat everyone like family and your compassion is so genuine. There should be more people in the world just like all of you. No words can express our gratitude for all you have done for myself, my father and our family. Thank you so very much and may the Lord bless you and yours! Sincerely Terri Carls and the Szymanski Family
