
Racine- JoAnn C. Engholt, 78, passed away unexpectedly at WFH-All Saints Medical Center on Saturday, June 28, 2008. A lifetime resident, JoAnn was born in Racine on May 19, 1930 to the late Arthur and Eva (nee: Johnson) Jorgenson. She graduated from Washington Park High School in 1948. Following, JoAnn attended University of Wisconsin-Madison. On September 3, 1949 in Holy Communion Lutheran Church, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, James Engholt. They have been members of Evangelical United Methodist Church since 1951, where JoAnn was proudly active with the Crossbearer Sunday School program. JoAnn was employed as an accomplished cook for Racine Unified School District until leaving to help establish and operate their family business – Custom Parts Inc. An avid reader, JoAnn was also a fantastic cook who thoroughly enjoyed entertaining. Above all, her family meant everything in the world to her and always placed them as top priority in her life. She loved and treasured being in their surroundings. Surviving are her loving husband of over 58 years, James of Racine; their children, Kirk (Lynn) Engholt of Plymouth; Scott Engholt, Debi (Bob) Hutton and Jodi (Scott) Steltenpohl, all of Racine; grandchildren, Brad, Ryan, Russell, Alaina, Chris and Amy; great-granddaughter, Hannah Grace; brother, Arthur (Jeanette) Jorgenson; many special nieces, nephews, relatives in Denmark and friends too numerous to mention by name. In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Jens and Anna Engholt. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 11:00 am in Evangelical United Methodist Church, 212 Eleventh Street, with Rev. Dr. Creighton Kaye officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-8 pm and in the church on Thursday from 10-11 am. In memory of JoAnn, memorials to Evangelical United Methodist Church– Missions has been suggested.
