RACINE – John C. Dawson, 62, passed at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee on Friday, September 9, 2016.
A lifelong resident of Racine, he was born on May 23, 1954, the son of the late Albert and Carole (nee: Tilbury) Dawson. John graduated from JI Case High School where he earned All-State honors in football. After graduation he served his nation with the U.S. Marine Corps.
John retired as an I.T. specialist with Omni Care. John also worked on the sidelines administering oxygen to the Packers for all of their home games.
John was a funny, joyful and giving person that above all loved his family and many friends. He was always ready and willing to help us all at the drop of a hat. He especially enjoyed being a loving uncle and spoiling all of his nephews and niece.
He is survived by his sisters and brothers, Barb Dawson of Racine, Mark Dawson of Ohio, Robert (Michelle) Dawson of Mount Pleasant, Deb (John) Peterson of Burlington; his nephews and niece, Gary (Jen) Wesley, Kyle, Travis and Troy Dawson, Christopher Peterson, Kayla (Marty Baumgardner) Peterson; great nephew, Henry Wesley; first cousins, Margaret Bosanko, Rusty (Jean Rutter-Smith) Smith, Steve Tilbury, Sandi Barsamian; as well as other dear relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his aunts, Leone Dawson and Rosemary Bolender.
Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 for a visitation from 4-6 p.m. A memorial service celebrating his life will follow with military honors at 6:00 p.m.
John’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Stephen Port and his staff at St. Luke’s Medical Center for the exceptional care he received.
