Service Details

His Homegoing Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, December 28th at 11:00 a.m. with Minister Lonnie Newman officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday, December 28th from 10:00 am. until the time of the service.

John M. Moore, 70, completed his earthly pilgrimage on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, with his loving and devoted companion Kathy at his side. He was born in Rockford, IL on January 6, 1949, the son of the late Homer and Anna (nee: Jetter) Moore.

John was a longtime security guard for several companies, finally retiring from Barton Security. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventists. John was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He enjoyed fishing, playing darts, and watching professional wrestling.

Surviving are his loving companion, of 28 years, Kathy Daniel; their children, Anna Williams, Elliott (Annette) Moore, all of Chicago, Yolanda (Daniel) Flanigan, Rebecca (Kirkland) Mattlock, all in Texas, Jerry Daniel, of Oshkosh, Angel (Lorenzo) Kinard, of Rockford, IL; and Joshua Daniel, in Virginia; 29 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; three brothers, Joseph “Sonny” (Jeannette) Moore, in CA, his twin brother, James Moore, and Homer Moore Jr., both of Rockford, IL;  five sisters, Wendy (Donald) Bishop, of Oklahoma City, OK, Mary Ann Moore, of St. Louis, MO, Shirley Waller, in FL, Jean Moore, and Nancy (Herbert) Hawthorne, all of Rockford, IL; sister-in-law, Patricia Moore, of Kenosha. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive him. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Moore.
