Josef F. Kueppers

Oct 12, 1920 – Mar 21, 2008

Our beloved father, Josef Franz Wilhelm Kueppers, went to be with the Lord on Good Friday, March 21,2008. He was born in Wassenberg, Germany on October 12,1920, son of Kasper George and Anna Maria (Winkens) Kueppers. He served with the German Army in WWII. He was a POW at a Russian prison camp and was released at the age of 23. He married his sweetheart, Waltraud Grzywotz on October 27,1952 in Berlin, Germany. In 1959 the family immigrated to Canada and then in 1961 settled in beautiful Lake Geneva, WI, where he show-cased his fantastic European Pastry Chef skills at Bittner’s Bakery for his entire career. His tasty creations were enjoyed by family and friends. While we grieve at his passing, we rejoice in a life well lived. He loved his family deeply, enjoyed many parties with friends, hours of woodworking in his garage hide-away, and his favorite pastime-“fishing for the big one”. We will miss his charm and wit. He is survived by his daughters, Evelyn Kueppers of El Cajon, California, and Bettina VonSeth of Racine; grandchildren, Aja and Amanda Aviles; great-grandchildren, Bailey Aviles and Elaina Kadamian. Memorial services will be held in the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2008. All are invited to meet in the funeral home beginning at 2:00 p.m.

I knew Joe since Tina and I were best friends in middle school. He was a great father and provider for his family. He was great at telling us about times we could not even comprehend and that made me respect his accomplishments in life all the more. He will be missed by us all, but more importantly, it is good to know he is now in a better place without pain or old age holding him back from his true passions.
All the best to the family in using sweet memories to heal their loss.

Please accept our condolences for your loss.

My mom used to buy all of our birthday cakes from Bittner’s when my sister and I were kids and I know your dad was a fantastic baker! He had a very special talent. I’m sure you will all miss him very much.

    Take care,

    Roy and Jay Luebke

Testimonials

August 1, 2025

Words cannot even begin to express the tremendous gratitude our family has for a team like the one at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home & Crematory. Thank you for the gentle lovely care over our mother Delia (Rosa) Balderas. Never having had a direct experience with a funeral home to this extent we didnt know what to expect. We didnt have a clue that they would step right in and have the most comforting team surrounding us that thought of ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING for anyone in our position. It was very evident from the first discussion on the phone that they were already well prepared to handle every little detail for us that we weren’t even aware would be required. Mark and his team truly eased so much of the unknown worries right out of our path, and left room for us to just focus on the small personal details we wanted for our mom. It was nice to know that all cost involved was in black and white on their site as well as on paper at our first meeting. Leaving no room for question or doubt what so ever with any fee involved. It was truly a blessing to have everything written out so well and simplified with various price range options in a time that we needed crystal clear direction. Its been beautiful to see that their care and service didnt stop after our mom’s service came to an end. They continue to be in communication with immediate responses as questions arise along the way. God bless Mark, and the entire compassionate team, to be around to guide many many more for generations to come through life’s most difficult times. You are all truly amazing.

Hilda Balderas
