Joseph J. Kurpis

Joseph J. Kurpis, Sr. Clearwater, FL – Joseph J. Kurpis, Sr., 88, died at Palm Gardens of Clearwater on Thursday, February 16, 2006. Mr. Kurpis was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 23, 1917 to the late John and Catherine (nee: Samojiedna) Kurpis. On December 31, 1940, he married the former Stella A. Malinowski. Mr. and Mrs. Kurpis moved from New York to Florida in 1984. She preceded him in death on May 31, 2003. Mr. Kurpis served his country with the US Marine Corps during WWII. He owned and operated Hub Spring and Truck Equipment in Garden City, NY. After moving to Florida they joined St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. He enjoyed his free time golfing, fishing, reading history, working on mechanical equipment and spending time with his family. His survivors include his sons, Joseph J. (Eleanore) Kurpis, Jr. of Kenosha, Dr. Albert J. (Judy) Kurpis of Saddle River, NJ; grandchildren, Alyssa (Peter) Greer of Kenosha, Cheryl (Matthew) Burgio of White Plains, NY, Joseph Shane (fiancée, Kalynn Gamnis) Kurpis of Oakdale, MN, Daniel (Ann) Kurpis of Kenosha, Jonathan, Lauren and Brian Kurpis of Saddle River, NJ and Philip Kurpis of Kenosha; great grandchildren, Jessica Burgio and Abigail Greer; sister, Alice Klindworth of Palm City, FL; brother, Stanley Kurpis of Merrick, NY; and many nieces, nephews and other family members. In addition to his parents and wife; his sister, Helen Pull also preceded him in death. Family and friends are invited to meet at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church (1919 54th Ave) on Saturday, February 25, 2006 for a visitation from 9:15 – 10:30 a.m. The celebration of his funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 am with Rev. Domenic Roscioli officiating. After the Mass burial will take place in St. George Cemetery. His family encourages memorials to Catholic Charities.

It was truly a blessing to have everything written out so well and simplified with various price range options in a time that we needed crystal clear direction. Its been beautiful to see that their care and service didn’t stop after our mom’s service came to an end. They continue to be in communication with immediate responses as questions arise along the way. God bless Mark, and the entire compassionate team, to be around to guide many many more for generations to come through life’s most difficult times. You are all truly amazing.
