Judith Ann Peden

Jan 13, 1940 – Apr 18, 2006

Racine- Judith Ann Peden (nee: Sorenson), 66, passed away at her home in the arms of her beloved husband, Leonard, on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 following a courageous battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer. Living most of her life in Racine, Judy was born in Kenosha on January 13, 1940 to the late Norman and Margaret (nee: Pier) Sorenson. She graduated from the Rochester Agricultural School in 1958. On April 8, 1961 in Calvary Memorial Church-Racine, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Leonard E. Peden, Jr. Judy began her career as a payroll clerk at Moxness Products in 1964. She left in 1968 when she and Len began their family. She returned to Moxness in 1982 until her retirement on January 17, 2000, when she again left to dedicate herself to being a full-time grandmother. Judy was a longtime member of Calvary Memorial Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and was proudly active with “Lend-A-Hand”. For the past few years, she was a member of Crossway Community Church-Kenosha. Among many of her interests, Judy was an avid reader and completely loved being a grandma. She will be greatly missed by the countless hearts she touched in her lifetime. May she rest in peace! Surviving are her loving husband of over 45 years, Leonard; their children, Joel (Susan) Peden of Corvallis, Mont.; Michael (Kristen) Peden of Shorewood; and Diane (John) Brooks of Racine; grandchildren, Stephen and Elizabeth Peden; and Morgan Brooks; sister, Karen (Robert) Anderson; brothers, David (Pat) Sorenson and Raymond (Bonnie) Sorenson; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Susan Sorenson, Lois (John) Anderson, Hazel Rigby, Catherine (Richard) Ball, Peggy Peden, Jeanene (Robert) Holton, Jeanette Olley, Shirley Bossert, John (Kay) Peden, Charles (LeeAnn) Peden and Donald (Marty) Peden; many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name. In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Sorenson; brother-in-law, Robert Olley; and by sisters-in-law, Sharon Peden, Loretta Fuller and Donna Peden. Funeral services will be celebrated on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 10:00 am in the funeral home, 4600 County Line Rd., with Rev. Mike Bullmore officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday (tonight) from 5-8 pm and on Saturday from 9-10 am. In memory of Judy, memorials to the Crossway Community Church-building fund have been suggested. A heartfelt note of thanks to Dr. Michael P. Mullane and his entire staff especially NP Kelly for the compassionate care and support that was so warmly extended to Judy during her time of need. God bless all of you!

Mike, Kristen & Family: I am very sorry to hear of your mother Judy’s passing. Cancer affects way too many good people, and it is the strength of family & friends that help see us through these tough times. Your friends at the GSF Admin Office (me, Jacque & Stef) are thinking of you & want you to know that if you need anything – all you have to do is call.
