Judy Ann Delcore

Apr 23, 1945 – Feb 14, 2008

Racine- Judy Ann Delcore, 62, passed away as the result of a tragic automobile accident on Thursday, February 14, 2008. A lifelong resident of Racine, Judy was born on April 23, 1945 to Francis and Jean (nee: Gering) Delcore. Following graduation from Washington Park High School, she went on to earn her degree from Accredited Beauty College, an art she continued to successfully master for over 45 years. During her talented career, Judy was employed as a designer/stylist for Best Salon, LaMode of Westgate Mall, and managed the salon of JC Penney. In 1990, Judy fulfilled her dream of opening her own salon, Imaginations by JD. The salon was located in Westgate Mall until moving to the present location, 3030 Lathrop Ave., in 1994. Judy was passionate about styling hair. However, it was her love for people that made her flourish in her career. Judy had an infectious smile and golden personality. She truly cherished and treasured the countless relationships she established through the salon. Judy will be proud to know that her beloved Imaginations Salon will continue on under the leadership of her protégé, Allen Mierisch. Catholic by faith, Judy lived her religion and prayed the Rosary often. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed tending to her yard. She had a special gift for growing hydrangeas. Judy also liked to fish, spoil her canine companions- Ozzie and Harriet, and, believe it or not, had a passion for shooting craps. Over the past nine years, she has fought a valiant battle with cancer. During this time, she never let this horrific disease bring her spirits down. Judy was an encouragement and inspiration to us all. May she now rest in peace. Surviving are her mother, Jean Delcore; brother, Terry (Linda Norby) Delcore, all of Somers; brother-in-law, Robert Morrison of Dunbar, PA; niece, Melanie Delcore; nephews, Robert “Bobby” Morrison and Austin Delcore; devoted friends, Suzanne Stevenson and Allen Mierisch; and her extended family of staff and friends from the salon, too numerous to mention by name. Judy was preceded in death by her father, Francis; and her loving sister, Christine “Tick” Morrison. In accordance with Judy’s wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial service celebrating Judy’s life will be held in the funeral home, 4600 County Line Rd., on Monday evening, February 18, 2008 at 7:00 pm. There will be time to visit with her family at the funeral home on Monday from 5-7 pm. In memory of Judy, memorials to the Jane Cremer Foundation (for educating and empowering women in the fight against cancer in Racine); Countryside Humane Society; or to the American Diabetes Assn. have been suggested. A heartfelt note of thanks to the emergency rescuers who responded to the accident on Thursday; to Julie and Mona from Froedtert Oncology for their constant care during her battle with cancer; and to all of Judy’s clients who supported her over the years. Every one of you meant the world to her!
