June Mary Michel

Jun 2, 1926 – Dec 31, 2014

Franksville – Our Beautiful Mother, June M. Michel, passed away on December 31, 2014, at the age of 88.  She was born on June 2, 1926, daughter of the late William and Julia (nee: Acker) Holterman on the family farm in St. Martins (Franklin).

June was united in marriage to the love of her life, Joseph Michel, Jr., on September 13, 1947, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in St. Martins.  Joseph preceded her in death on October 17, 1973.

After raising 10 children, June stayed busy volunteering at St. Mary’s Hospital, bowling, babysitting grandchildren, the mission sewing group at church, the 50-plus club, attending plays at the Fireside Theatre, and watching Packer games. She was also a member of the 494 American Legion auxiliary.  June was especially proud of her almost 30 years of chairing the St. Louis Festival craft booth.  June always enjoyed her flowers and gardening.  She was always there to direct her children as to how to plant and care for her numerous gardens after her health would not let her do so herself.

June is survived by her children, Judy Michel, Kathy (Dennis) Guth, Joe (Nancy) Michel III, Ken (Judy) Michel, Sue (Darryl) Hendricks, Sharon (Steve) Reichel, Chris (Kevin) Riendeau, Dan (Linda) Michel, Colleen (Tim) McIntosh, and Denise Michel.  June is also survived by 17 grandchildren, Dennis (Jenny), Kelly (Joe), Don (Sherri), Doug (Maria), Johanna , Sarah (Kevin), Rebecca (Alex), Laura, Ken (Molly), Karen, Joe, Dan, Steve (Katie), Tom (Adele),  Nick (Meg), Nikki (Mark), Cory (Alex); 15 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Austin, Rebecca, Katelyn, Landon, Abram,  Andrew, Parker, Lucas, Sloane, Waylynn, Allyson, Dane, Reid, and Madisyn with two more on the way. She is further survived by sisters, Verne Funk and Lois Mainus; brothers Ray (Carol) Holterman and Lloyd (Rose) Holterman; in-laws, LaVerne (Roy) Behrens, Joyce Michel, Pat Michel, Ramona Michel, David (Rose) Michel; many nieces, nephews and special friends.  Mom will be missed deeply by her shared furry friend Stella.

In addition to her parents and husband, June is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Catherine Hendricks; great-grandson, Carson Milz; sisters, Florence Holterman, Lorraine (Leo) Michel; brother, Earl (Lucy) Holterman; in-laws, Rollie Funk, Joseph Mainus, Mike (Marge) Michel, Bill Michel, Rose (Norman) Buchmann, Doris (Fred) Behrens, Mary Ann (Derle) Tuttle, Catherine (Elmer) Kastenson, and Larry Michel.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, 4:00pm until 7:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road.  A prayer vigil will take place at 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 8, 2015, 11:00am, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 13207 County Road G, with Rev. Mark Danczyk officiating.  Visitation on Thursday will be from 10:00am until the time of the service.  Burial will follow at St. Louis Cemetery.

The family would like to give special Thanks to the ICU staff at St. Francis Hospital, especially her dancing partner, Dave.  The family would also like to thank the staff at Select Specialty Hospital – West Allis, especially, Lee, for his gentle treatment of our mother and family.

Sorry for the loss of your loved one. I have found this scripture to be most comforting. I hope this will bring comfort to you as it has to me. Isaiah 25:8- He will swallow up death forever.
