Racine – Katherine Ellen Payne, 92, (affectionately known as Moma Kat) passed away at Ascension – All Saints Hospital on Wednesday, April 26, 2017.  Katherine was born in New Albany, Indiana on April 8, 1925, daughter of the late John and Joanna (nee: Anderson) Scott.  Katherine moved to Racine, WI in 1967 and began working at St. Luke’s Hospital as a Surgical Orderly.  In 1984 Katherine retired and moved to San Diego, California, returning back to Racine in 2004.

 Ever the caregiver and confidant, Katherine enjoyed cooking for her family, and taking trips to the casino with friends.  Katherine was very important to every member of her family, and was a trusted friend.  Katherine was a member of Zoe Outreach Ministries.

Katherine is survived by her children: JoAnn Jones of Indianapolis, IN, Evelyn (Donald) Clark, Ronnie (Dannetta) Payne of Racine WI, and Eddie (Christina) Payne of Fontana, CA; 17 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandson.  Katherine is further survived by her brother Robert Dale (Patricia) Scott of Indianapolis IN, and sister Sally Ann Jackson of San Francisco, CA.  Katherine was preceded in death by her husband James Payne, son-in-law, Arnold Lee Jones, six brothers, four sisters, two great grandsons and one great-great grandson.
