Keith Loren Fenderson, age 52, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Ascension All Saints Hospital in Racine, WI.  Keith was born on April 29, 1964 to Shirley White-Johnson and Johnnie Fenderson, Sr in Racine, WI. He was a 1982 graduate of William Horlick High School and the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. Keith served his country in the United States Army. Up until the time of his death, Keith worked as a supervisor with the Violence Free Zone (aka VFZ).  He was very passionate about this job as he loved working with children and young people. He also worked at 21st Century School.

Keith loved and enjoyed playing basketball. He was an amazing shooter. He was an avid bowler, bowling 300 games all over the city. He enjoyed writing plays and if you ever attended one they were pretty funny. If you were fortunate enough to be in one of his plays, you had fun with him in rehearsal. He had a great sense of humor and was a man of great character and integrity. If you were having a bad day or felt down, he had a way of getting you to smile or to make you laugh so you felt better. He was one of a kind and had much love for everyone he came in contact with.

He leaves to cherish his memories, the mother of his children, Karlos Bland, sons LaVontay (Markisa) Fenderson, LaQuan (Ashley Christofferson) Fenderson, Daughter Latasha (Phillip Henley) Fenderson and grandchildren LaTrevion, Ta’Carvion, Layton and Marikay Fenderson and Dallas Henley.  His mother Shirley White – Johnson, father Johnnie (Florence) Fenderson, Sr., grandmother Velma Hardiman, brother Cember (Raquel) White, John Fenderson (Knoxville, TN), Yasmond Fenderson (Knoxville, TN), Johnnie (Yolanda) Fenderson (Tampa, FL) sister Johnetta Fenderson (Knoxville, TN), step-sisters and brothers – Margate (Mike) Sacotte, April (Arthell) Howell, Patricia (John) McNeal, Anthony (Diane) Johnson, David (Tina) Johnson and Mark Johnson.  He is further survived by his special niece, Rayna Graham, God children Jazmin, Jamil, Kamisha and Semaj Wilson. Mother-in-law Lillie Graham, sister-in-law Wanda Graham and brother-in-law Lee Graham, Remington Tucker who was like a daughter to him and a host of many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Clarence and Ada White, uncles Jimmy White and Vaugh Chapman, Aunt Louvenia Fenderson, brothers Ember White and Andre Fenderson, step-fathers Clyde Miken, Albert Johnson and step-sister Diane Johnson. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of his life will take place on Monday, November 21st, 11:00am, at St. Paul MBC, 1123 Center St. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00am until the time of service.

OMG Keith! I couldn’t believe it when I walked into work at Mitchell Middle and they told me the terrible news. I just couldn’t believe it. I knew you for a very long time. You were a very well respected man by many people. You turned many students lives around by your guidance and love. My dad followed you, Peanut, Jamil Wilson, Antwon Oliver, Robert Berryhill and many more playing basketball and keeping stats since you all attended junior high school and continued to do that all the way through High School. My dad passed away on November 10th, 8 years ago. Him and my grandma are watching you again in Heaven playing Basketball. Statman is keeping you up to date. I am so glad I had the privilege to know you and work with you. I will never forget when I got banned from the Horlick Basketball games for a yearand it was you and Peanut who told me to go and get a disguise so I could attend them. That was the year my dad died and the team dedicated that year to him and they went to state. Well I listened to you and got that black wig and colored contact lenses and attended every one of them! I know you are laughing about that. I can tell you school is not the same without you being there. R.I.P. Keith and continue to watch down on your family. Laurie (Sokolowski)LaFever

Thank you for sharing your life with us Keith. You had an impact on so many of our staff and students at Mitchell Middle. You even took time to meet with many of our elementary students. Watching you talk to students, I learned a lot about looking into a child’s heart and meeting them where they are in their lives. Though your approach was not always understood by all, there is nobody that can argue with the way you touched students lives! The library the day it was announced was a living testament to the way you touched students’ lives.
I know you were feeling tired the days before you left to meet God. We had talks about your faith and how you knew you were serving HIm by serving our students. I can picture you walking the streets of gold, and would not be surprised to see you with a golden staff. Rest in Christ my friend, until we meet again in glory!

I just found out about Keith’s passing this morning. I come to the area once a month to motivate young men in the schools. Keith was one of the bright spots in my trip. Funny as all get out and committed to the kids in his school. He took me on a tour of his school and kids everywhere were hugging him, laughing with him and listening to him. When he said “Go to class” to some of them, they immediately responded. My heart aches today for your family and this came as a big shock to me. I will miss him in a major way. He was a blessing to many people in Racine and beyond. RIP my friend.
