Racine – Kenneth Valentine Hadley, age 84, made his transition on September 9, 2019. He was born on September 20, 1934 in Centralia, Illinois, but moved to the Lakeview neighborhood in Racine when he was 8. Except for a brief stay in Minneapolis, he was a lifelong resident. He attended school at Franklin and Washington Park, and later earned his associate’s degree from Gateway Technical College in his mid-fifties.

Love for his family was the main driver in his life. He was a strong protector and provider, working tirelessly to make sure nothing was lacked. He was loyal to friends and willing to help those with less. Although he could be gruff at times, his heart was always in the right place. His outsized personality, wit and intellect will be missed.

Ken was an avid fisherman, but enjoyed hunting as well. He also was an accomplished bowler, winning numerous trophies at local, state and national levels. Known as Father Love in the cb community, his voice could be heard throughout Southeast Wisconsin. He served his community as president of the Kiwanis Club and Jefferson Elementary PTA, and as a  member on several City Hall boards. Ken was a published author and poet, occasionally holding readings for the public. However, he was best known through his business Ken’s Appliance Service, where his reputation for excellent service and integrity gained him many customers and friends.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his children Ramona (Wendy), Pamela, Renée, Keith and Kevin (Karen); 10 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; two sisters and one brother; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. A special appreciation to nephew Reverend Doctor Roy Carter and The Minneapolis Crew. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Lillian of 62 years; sons Kenneth and Kaai; his parents; four sisters and two brothers.

The Celebration of His Life will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2019  12:00pm in the Chapel of Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Rd, Racine, WI.  Visitation will be in the chapel from 11:00am until the time of service.

My condolences to the family, I can remember him as a little girl coming to our house to fix our washer or dryer. I believe that him and my dad were friends as kids, but my dad too is now passed so I can’t ask.

I remember his to always be so nice and friendly. I’m sorry for your loass.

Ken was a gift wherever he went …….. and we are all the better for having known him.
I often think about the poem that he would share about “The Dash.”
His poetry readings at AGAPE were always entertaining, thought-provoking, challenging – and definitely appreciated.
    Prayers continue for the family.
