Laszlo "Les" O. Szabo

Feb 21, 1926 – Mar 10, 2015

Racine – Laszlo “Les” Szabo, 89, received the promise of eternal life on March 10, 2015, at Clairidge House in Kenosha.  He was born on February 21,1926, in Abod, Hungary, son of the late Michael and Margaret (nee: Barva) Szabo.

Les came to the United States in 1948 and resided in Racine.  He married the former Magda Korako on May 1, 1954, at Sacred Heart Church.  Les was employed by the City of Racine for 32 years and retired in 1988.

Les is survived by his wife of 60 years, Magda (Korako) Szabo; children, Les (Karen) Szabo, Michael (Michele) Szabo; two grandsons, Steven Szabo, Joseph Szabo; two great-grandchildren, Dallas and Natalie; brothers, Andy (Margaret) Szabo of Racine, Joseph Szabo of Abod, Hungary; cousin, Frank Sabo of Wyoming; sisters-in-law, Helen Korako, Lois Korako; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends too numerous to mention.

Les is preceded in death by his daughter, Magda Szabo; sister, Margaret Szabo; brother, Michael Szabo; brother-in-law, William Korako; sister-in-law, Ilona Szabo; and in-laws, Frank (Magda) Korako.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for Les on Saturday, March 21, 2015, 11:00am, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring Street.  A gathering time with family will be held from 10:00am until the time of the Mass.  Private interment will be held at a later date.  Memorials have been suggested to your favorite cancer charity in remembrance of his daughter, Magda.
