Lavone Marlene Christensen 87, left to be with the Lord on October 18, 2017 with her loving family by her side. Born January 1, 1930 in Hampton, Nebraska she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Lanora Sayles. She married Alvin Christensen January 19, 1952. They were happily married for 28 years until the death of her husband on September 25, 1980.

Lavone was proud to practice nursing for 25 years at St. Mary’s hospital in Racine. She enjoyed caring for others and she fostered children throughout many years.

She is survived by her sons Arne Christensen and Keith (Kellie) Christensen both of Racine. Her daughter Marilyn (Stephen) Miller of Warsaw, Missouri; her grandchildren Nicole Christensen of Ripon, Jennifer Footit of Racine, Joshua (Amber) Christensen of St. Francis, Holly Christensen of Texas, Jamie (Aaron Barr) Christensen and Madison Christensen of both of Racine; great-grandchildren Katelyn, Cole, Emmalynn, Quintyn, Nia, Xander and Jack. Also survived by brother-in-law Harry (June) Christensen of Marietta Georgia; sisters-in-law Joyce (Don) Erickson of Racine, Joyce Christensen of Oconomowoc. Preceded in death by brothers-in-law Arne Christensen, Ed Christensen, and sister-in-law Karen Christensen.

Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 23, 2017. Visitation will begin at 4pm followed by her funeral service at 6pm. Interment at Graceland Cemetery on Tuesday will be private. Memorials to the Wisconsin Humane Society have been suggested.
