Kenosha – Leo Edward Puerner, 76, received the promise of eternal life on Tuesday, August 1, 2017.  He was born in Milwaukee on January 22, 1941, son of the late Harold and Cecelia (née: Stein) Puerner.

Leo was united in marriage to the love of his life, the former Janice Mary Hanson, on October 7, 1961, in Milwaukee.  Janice preceded him in death on March 18, 2008.

Leo graduated from Juneau High School in Milwaukee.  He worked in quality control for American Motors (Chrysler) until his retirement.  Leo loved to play golf.  He also was an avid Packers fan and Brewers fan.  Leo enjoyed being an amateur stock watcher and enjoyed listening to the business news.  Leo and Janice loved travelling to many different destinations over the years, whether it be a trip to Florida or a cruise on the sea.

Leo leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters, Lora (Michael) Penza, Krista Jones, Cara Puerner; grandchildren, Michelle Donovan, Pamela Penza, Jonathan Penza, Cody Lee Jones; great-grandchildren, Jonah Rodriguez, Liliana Rodriguez; their father, Carlos Rodriguez; sisters, Patricia Bauer, Barbara Buday; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.

In addition to his parents and wife, Leo is preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Janick; brother, William Puerner; sister, Mary Puerner; in-laws, Leonard and Marcella Hanson; brothers-in-law, Charles Bauer, and Robert Buday.

A celebration of Leo’s life will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017, 6:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, Racine, WI, 53403.  Visitation will be from 4:00pm until the time of the service.  Entombment will take place on Saturday, August 5, 2017, 9:00am, at West Lawn Memorial Park, 9000 Washington Avenue, Mount Pleasant, WI.  Please meet at the gates of the cemetery on Saturday.  In lieu of flowers, the family has directed memorials to Aurora at Home Hospice.

The family would like to extend a heart-felt “Thank You” to the staff at Aurora at Home Hospice, ManorCare – Kenosha, Brookdale Assisted Living, Dr. A.J. Capelli and his staff for the care given to Leo over the years and during this difficult time.
