Apr 20, 1943 – Oct 27, 2005

RACINE – Leonhart V. ‘Lenny’ Winterle, 62, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, October 27, 2005. A lifetime resident, Lenny was born in Racine on April 20, 1943 to the late Leonhart and Hertha (nee: Schlei) Winterle. A 1961 graduate of Washington Park High School, he went on to proudly serve our Country with the United States Army during the Viet Nam War era. Lenny was a longtime member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He was employed for over 32 years at Jacobsen Mfg. until the closure of the Racine plant. Lenny was a member of the Jacobsen 20 Year Club and the UAW Local 180. He truly enjoyed spending time at his home in Wild Rose, WI for the past 25 years, including his hobbies of fishing, hunting and snowmobiling. Lenny also devoted himself to caring for and spending time with his mother, Hertha, during her senior years. He will be sorely missed! Surviving are his brother, William (Jackie) Winterle of Racine; sisters, Marilyn Mahoney of Sturtevant and Judith (Tim) Goltz of Necedah; nieces and nephews, Eric (Kathy) Winterle, Lori (Corey) Bethke, Matthew Winterle, Trisha (Mike) Jaeger, William (Sharon) Mahoney, Edward (Cherylene) Mahoney, Carrie (Pete) Ydunate, Andy (Pattie) Mahoney and Thom (Joy) Mahoney; many great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Lenny was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, William Mahoney; nephew, William Winterle; and great-nephew, Andrew Mahoney. A memorial service will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Rd., on Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at 7:00 pm with Rev. David Behling officiating. There will be time to visit with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-7 pm. Graveside services, with military honors, to inter Lenny’s cremated remains will be at West Lawn Memorial Park on Wednesday (Please meet at the 90th St. entrance of the cemetery at 11:00 am).
