
Lettie M. Dunnebacke, 95, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2013 after a long illness, in Hospice House, Pleasant Prairie, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Milwaukee on March 11, 1918, the daughter of the late George and Lettie (nee: Rintelman) von Kalweit.
Mrs. Dunnebacke had been employed as a dental hygienist by Dr. Heath Dunlap D.D.S. and Mischler’s Home for Funerals, but her most important role was caring for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She taught them love, respect for all and to always strive for excellence. On March 17, 1950, she was united in marriage to Francis “Fran” Dunnebacke Sr. who preceded her in death on January 4, 1988.
Surviving are her children, John Mischler Sr, of Kenosha, Drs. Nicholas (Elaine) Mischler, of Waunakee, Peggy Taylor, of Racine, and Aleida Peterson-(Rudi) Humpf, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and step-son, Francis “Fran” (Susan) Dunnebacke Jr., of Kenosha, 9 grandchildren, Leslie (Craig) Quandt-Walle, Aimee Taylor, Kristen (Jason) Goodman, Rachel (D.J.) Walsh, Ray (Carrie) Peterson, Curtis (Deepa) Mischler, Craig (Sara) Mischler, Elizabeth (Nick) Cass-Beggs, and John (Dana) Mischler Jr, 15 great grandchildren, half-sister, Audrey Schweitzer, of Oakland, CA, sister-in-law, Kay Kalweit, of Orono, MN, cousin Raymond Carey, other relatives, friends, and the very special Leipzig and Lindl families. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Mrs. Dunnebacke was preceded in death by her step-mother, Madeline Mayer von Kalweit Spoerl, and half-brother, G. William Kalweit.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1525 Erie St., Racine, on Saturday, June 15th, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Steve Verghese officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will follow in St. George Cemetery, Kenosha. Luncheon after burial.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to either Hospice Alliance, Kenosha, Disabled American Veterans, Cold Spring, KY, Saint Joseph Catholic Church Music Program, Racine, or the Madison Symphony Orchestra Overture Concert Organ Endowment, Madison, WI.
Lettie’s children would like to thank Hospice Alliance for the kindness and loving care shown to Lettie and her family.
