On Tuesday, September 17, 2019, the heavens rejoiced, as Lisa Kristine Cecilia Michel Hannes, 48, was welcomed in a heavenly homecoming celebration.  She fought an indescribable, brave battle to overcome numerous complications, following a successful liver transplant at UW Hospital, Madison.

Her faithful, devoted family, lovingly surrounded her, while a parade of doctors and nurses prepared Lisa for her celebration.  With tears streaming down their cheeks, they each held her hand one last time here on earth, praying for her peaceful journey.

Lisa prepared for this heavenly reception throughout her earthly life.  Her parents, Jim and Linda (nee: Sustachek) Michel, welcomed her into this world on September 23, 1970.  She attended Holy Name Grade School and graduated from St. Catherine’s High School, Class of 1988.  She then worked with fervent determination to obtain her paralegal certificate from Carthage College.  Lisa developed many friendships in her employment as a paralegal for Pruitt Law Offices, a Deputy Clerk of Courts for Racine County, and more recently by Patrick Cafferty Law Office.  She was also a proud graduate of Leadership Racine.

While God opened His arms for Lisa, those here on earth find themselves missing a part of what made them whole, including; her two sons, Peter Hannes IV, of Milwaukee, and Michael Hannes, of Kenosha; parents, Jim and Linda Michel, of Racine; sisters and brothers, Denise Michel, of Los Angeles, CA, Joel (Christine) Michel, of Rochester, WI, Laura ( Matthew) Hurtienne, of Horicon, WI, and  Jamie (Shauna) Michel, of New York, NY; three adored nieces, Cecily Hurtienne, Ellie Michel, and Abbie Michel; her “favorite” (only) nephew, Emmit Hurtienne; her grandfather, Calvin Sustachek; and the father of her boys, Peter Hannes III.  Lisa has also been blessed with many supportive aunts, uncles and cousins.

Several family members who are heavenly residents, received invitations to Lisa’s celebration, and will help in hosting the event.  Her grandparents, Marilyn Sustachek, Leo and Lorraine Michel, and doting great-grandmother, Cecilia Aseltine (“Grandma Honey”), are expected to greet her with the hugs and kisses only grandparents can give.  In Lisa’s eyes, no celebration would be complete without cuisine, so her Grandma Michel will provide Lisa’s favorite parsley potatoes, while Grandma Marilyn will make poached eggs in the microwave.  Grandma Honey is preparing her infamous burnt toast, and Lisa will heat a meal of pigs in a blanket and tater tots.  Lisa will also provide entertainment, including stunt performances, such as, walking out the back door withOUT breaking her foot, climbing on the roof, and throwing baby dolls out second story windows.  There will be a screaming contest in the Big Boy Restaurant bathroom, volleyball, painting, and reading for those who are interested in something less hazardous.

Please do not be offended if you did not receive an invitation to Lisa’s celebration; know she is anticipating hosting over and over, as family and friends are able to join her in her heavenly home.  Lisa’s affection for her loved ones was limitless, and she awaits seeing everyone again.  In the meantime, rest assured, Lisa now knows all of your deepest, darkest secrets…

    Dear Jack and Pat,
Both Judy and I want to express our sincere sympathy at the loss of your lovely niece. We have listened to you time and again as you both have asked for prayers for her as she dealt with the complications related to her condition. We prayed for her and yet our Savior wanted her “home” with all her loved ones. I know they will all enjoy the party!
Please accept our condolences as you grieve the loss of this marvelous young woman.
    With love,
    Paul and Judy Berg
