Memorial Suggestions

In memory of Logan, offer a kind deed to someone in need.

Racine – Logan Curtis Tyler, Sr., age 61, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, January 16, 2021 as the result of a heart attack.

Logan was born in Osceola, Arkansas on September 11, 1959 to the late Henry and Elmer (nee: Bobo) Tyler, Jr. A decorated track star and accomplished wrestler, he was a graduate of JI Case High School “Class of 1977”. He married the love of his life Avis J.  Lambert on July 27, 1985 at Wustum Museum, however, their journey together started in 1981. He had a profound work ethic, with 21 years at Acme Die Casting and 22 years as a Panther team member of Racine Unified School District building services at Washington Park High School.

Quite the athlete, Logan played city league softball and participated in several tournaments over many years. He loved family, friends, music, putting brats and chicken wings on the grill (no matter the weather condition) and the San Francisco 49ers, but he especially LOVED his grandchildren. Logan was loved by so many and he impacted people’s lives with his smile, kindness, real talk, generosity and bopping to his music.

Surviving are his loving wife of over 35 years, Avis Tyler; children, Candace, Logan Tyler, Jr. and Nicholas “Nick” Tyler; grandchildren, Logan III, Niyma, Arrianna, Jada, Sadarian, Ava, Levi, Nasir and Genesis; great-grandchildren, Kylie and Kylan; sisters, Evelyn Smith and Mary (Bill) Bland; brothers, Henry (Sherry) Tyler, Andrew (Linda) Tyler and Rev. Tommy (Ella) Hill; mother-in-law, Mary (nee: Gates) Lambert; father-in-law, Alvin (Carol) Lambert; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Terri (Ricky) Jones, Rachal Lambert, Kim Lambert, Tamaria Lambert and Daniel Lambert; many special nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers and friends – too numerous to mention all by name.

Logan was greeted in Heaven by his father and mother, Henry and Elmer Tyler; sons, Joshua Steven Tyler an AJ Lambert-Tyler; sister, Betty Jean Hood; brothers, Dewey Bobo and David (Helen) Tyler; brother-in-law, Ricky Jones; niece, Trudy Hood & Sherry Smith; and nephews, Tony Hood and Fojuan Bell.

Services celebrating Logan’s life will be held in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 12:00 noon with Rev. Tommy Hill officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Viewing will be in the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon. In memory of Logan, offer a kind deed to someone in need.

My thoughts and prayers to a friend I met our first weeks at Gifford Jr. High and became friends – City kid and Suburban kid. Logan was all things described in his obituary, but his sense of humor and his smile are what I will most remember. He was friends to many, adversary to few, and a great competitor. Rest well my friend.

  43. Jon Bassindale (Case HS Class of '77) says

    January 31, 2021 at 7:41 pm

Logan and I shared many good times running track together at Case HS. Our senior year we had one of the fastest times in the state in the Mile Relay. Logan was our anchor, the final leg in the relay. He had a slight frame and skinny legs but had the heart of a lion! Give him a lead and he held it. Give him a chance and he’d take it. He was the ultimate closer, giving every ounce that he had, never letting the team down. Not just a competitor, Logan was a true friend, always smiling and digging on his music. I was not surprised to hear all the stories told at Logan’s memorial service on Friday. The consistent theme was that Logan remained the anchor of his extended family and community. He will be missed but his memory remains strong. You have run the good race, Rest in God’s Glory My Friend.

Testimonials

May 24, 2018

I can’t express my gratitude enough to Mike and the Draeger-Langendorf staff for such great service provided to us, as we made arrangements to lay our brother to rest. You all went above and beyond to make sure we understood every detail there was to know, from the greatest to the smallest. When we walked out of your office, we walked out with peace, knowing that our brother was in good hands. Thank you Mike for adding that special touch to my brother’s service, that’s the kind of stuff that separates you all from the rest. Once again Thank you so much.
