Lonnie "Bigg Lonnie" Williams

Jul 2, 1945 – Mar 12, 2010

Lonnie ”Bigg Lonnie” Williams, 64 died at WFH-All Saints on Friday, March 12, 2010.

   He was born in Stonewall, MS on July 2, 1945, the son of the late Marion and Ruth (nee: Wells) Williams. 

   Lonnie worked for many places over the years, including Tree Tool, Twin Disc, and most recently as a truck driver.  However his true profession was as a musician.  An accomplished blues guitarist, Lonnie led a number of bands. Over the years he also played background guitar for B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf and Buddy Miles. 

  Lonnie was proud to be a mentor for the youth in his neighborhood.  He did his best to keep kids out of trouble and on the right path.  He also enjoyed his time spent on his motorcycle as well as fishing and hunting.  

   His survivors include his children, Lonna Williams of Mosspoint, MS, Brett Williams, Lonnie McGee, Shane Williams and Felicia A. Williams all of Racine; grandchildren, Malachi Martin, Tarin and Zarin Cole, Solomon Lloyd Williams, Jeremiah Johnson and Christopher North; brother, Roy (Terri Sheppard) Williams of Racine; loving wife and longtime companion, Kristine Krekling of Racine; nieces and nephews, Danny, Michelle, Joey, Kenny, Evelyn and Tina; longtime friend and former partner, Cynthia M. Lloyd; best friend, Charles “Hogg” Hayes and many other dear relatives and friends.  In addition to his parents, Lonnie was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Williams; grandmother, Willie Mae Wells; Uncle, Joe Curtis Williams, cousins, Charles Goodwin and Ruth Ford

   There will be a visitation for Lonnie’s friends at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, March 19, 2010 from 5-7 p.m.  A private service will be held by the family.
